I adore my art deco bedroom set. It's not the common waterfall design, it's something I'd never seen before and I bought it on the spot. The set came with two dressers, one unusual vanity, and one night stand. I move that vanity into every room of my house trying to find a place where it would be functional. 5 years later I decided that it wasn't going to work as it was, and that it would make an excellent second night stand if only it didn't have the asymmetrical bookcase extending off of one side. It was cool but too large for the space. So I did something I've never done before - performed furniture amputation. I cut off the small side shelves in order to salvage the main drawer unit which you see here. It's not perfect and the right side will have to remain hidden due to missing veneer, but overall it was a success.
This is not fine furniture, and beaten up just enough to be charming, so my guilt was pretty limited. Now in it's new life it will see daily use - which to me is the whole point. Love your antiques!
