I have two herniated discs in my lower back, and sometimes they spasm for literally NO REASON. If I can catch the warning signs early enough and head them off, sometimes I can prevent a full-on blowout that’ll leave me bedbound for days. So yesterday when I felt the warning twinges, I immediately got up and started doing some back strengthening exercises I learned in physical therapy to protect and strengthen the muscles surrounding the herniated discs.

If you struggle with back pain or herniated discs, here are some low-impact moves that could help reduce pain & strengthen your back muscles*:
.
💚Bridge: place feet flat on the floor and knees an equal distant apart, then slowly lift pelvis straight up. Repeat 10x.
💚Bicycle: Lie flat on your back and ensure there’s no space between lower back & floor; lift bent left leg & then right leg in quick succession, then lower. Complete 10x on left side, then repeat on right.
💚 Leg Lift: Lie flat with left knee bent & right leg stretched flat. Plant left foot flat on the floor & use to stabilize. Lift right leg 10x. Repeat with left leg.
💚 The Awkward Move: (😂I know there’s a better name, but I think it just looks so awkward) lie on your side, knees on top of each other. One hand under the head, other hand either on hip or on ground to stabilize. Feet resting on top of each other. Lift upper knee in an open V 10x, then turn over and repeat. ••this one can take some work to build up if you’re just getting started because the tendency is to roll the whole body back when you lift the leg, but you’ll want to keep the body still to get the strengthening effects••

*if your back is really hurting, go see a doctor - I almost suffered permanent nerve damage because I didn’t want to face the face that I was 21 with back pain. When I finally went, I found out that two discs had herniated and I had degenerative disc disease. You can’t fix something you don’t acknowledge, so go get help. Your health is worth it.😘😘😘

Please welcome model, friend and new training family member Epiphany aka @lavendermilkk to the family! Her average day can consist of morning relaxation, breakfast, working on her business, modeling or her part time job. Talk about an independent woman and GO GETTER! After a hard days work, she heads home, stays up late watching a favorite TV show or simply peruses the internet and eventually falls asleep. Like many, many women that I work with she struggles with being self conscious, the cousin to anxiety, which triggers mental and physical stress. I have learned over the years that people struggle with this until they are 100% satisfied and in love with what they see, regardless as to what others may say or think. I am the same way. I am my best when I can look in the mirror and be proud of my inner and external appearance. Her main challenges with food is either forgetting to eat or giving into cravings that inevitably cause inconsistencies and set backs or what I like to call “stagnation”. One thing I love about Epiphany is she admits to procrastination being a struggle. “I am a HUGE procrastinator and I am always saying the words, Oh I will do it soon or I can do it later. Usually, this means I dont end up completing the task all together, and pushing it to the next day or two.” This is something we all struggle with during different seasons in our life. This usually happens when the brain is trying to keep you comfortable and stagnant 🆚 progressing, which only happens when you’re out of your comfort zone.

Epiphany decided to join forces with me online because She is 100% determined to achieve total overall health for herself permanently, NOT ANOTHER DIET/Program. “I have been up and down for the past few years and I am ready to take my life by the horns and steer it. I really need to develop better habits and get not only my physical health in order, but my mental and spiritual as well. I have been trying to do this all my own for awhile now and I am just now realizing that I could use some good professional help. I am determined in becoming my greatest version of myself. I am ready for the change!”

I am not alone.
I’m not one to ask for help. I like to find the answers for my self. Asking an actual human being and admitting that I don’t know all the answers/can’t find them for myself is torture for me.
As I try to grow my business, I find myself stumbling over my thoughts and words. My intentions are good, but I don’t always know what or how to speak. When I try on my own, I just word vomit all over everyone who is kind enough to listen. Then I beat myself up for not connecting with them in the way they deserve.

Thankfully, I am not alone. I’ve realized a simple message can get all the answers I need and set me on the right path. It’s really not that difficult, and they want to be there for me.
