Dr Dhriti Shukla was working with #MSF, providing essential medical care to people living in hard-to-reach locations in #Chhattisgarh. This #ThrowbackThursday, she shares one of her cherished memories of her assignment with MSF.
___________________________________________________“I got to witness what team effort truly is during my stint at MSF in Chhattisgarh. We were on our way to one of our mobile clinic sites, when we noticed that torrential rains had damaged the bridge that we used to cross to reach the clinic site. We had two choices: either return to the base or stay back and try to repair the bridge. The entire team, which included the team leader, drivers, lab technicians, nurses, registrars, health educators and I, got to work, carrying heavy stones and levelling the bridge manually so that the cars could cross through. The passersby saw us toiling away and decided to help us in our endeavour. After an hour of backbreaking work, our cars were able to cross the bridge. The people who gathered around cheered us on real hard. Here we were, the entire team, covered in dirt, soaking wet, but with a sense of pride. We did the impossible. We made a difference. And I couldn’t be more proud to be a part of such a wonderful team." ______________________________________________
