These #girls stole my . Enrieliz and Alanis of 1 and 3-years-old. They are adorable, smart and friendly. My new little #friends. While their mother, Daiza Aponte, was speaking up about her experience as a Puerto Rican displaced family, we went to play so they wouldn’t do much noise. Daiza is a 29-years-old, single mother with these two children both chronic asthmatic. They lost everything in the island. After #HurricaneMaria both were two weeks hospitalized and one got pneumonia. They are staying now at a hotel shelter provided by FEMA but the voucher will expire soon and they won’t have a place to go. Daiza doesn’t speak English and can’t work to take care of them. They have been eating from food from another family in the shelter shared with them. As Daiza, there are so many other evacuee families basically surviving.
I ask you to join this fight to keep the pressure on #Congress and the #Trump administration to address this humanitarian crisis #6MonthsAfterMaria. Hundreds , including Daiza, will go to DC on Tuesday, March 20 a 6-month anniversary of María, to ask Congress to solve this crisis urgently. Six months is enough.
