° The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, And upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death Light has dawned.
Advent means "to come" or "arrival", and is meant to be a season of anticipation as we expectantly await the Nativity of our Lord and look forward to His second Advent. There is not celebration, yet, but rather contemplation and hope. I am so grateful for a season like this, where I can focus on the excitement of awaiting Christ's entrance into the physical world, to meet me where I am and to begin the work of redemption in me. I look with eager anticipation towards the celebration of His first Advent, and feel the briefest glimmer of what was feeyl by the many who lived before Christ became flesh.
Come, Thou long-expected Jesus
Born to set Thy people free;
From our fears and sins release us,
Let us find our rest in Thee. °
