I’m back! Yesterday was the first day actually really training with the arm. I worked up to 67lbs on circus db(first time ever using a Titan item), the bicep felt good but I felt unstable in the rack position. Next were viper presses, again, stayed light at 100lbs.
-
It felt incredible to be training again. I was cautious with everything I did. Every move I made was as controlled and deliberate as possible. -
Today I am feeling it a bit in the tricep. Which I feel is a big win! My bicep isn’t sore, the forearm feels good, just the tricep was really worked for the first time in 12 weeks (today was actually 12 weeks post-op). I thought I was a little further along.

I checked out this gym called @gardenstatebarbell , it reminds me of the powerlifting side of @lightningfitness860 . It’s great, they have a ton of racks, bars, heavy ass dumbbells. They even have a pitbull log and a wooden log! This place has been here for 2 years and I never knew! -

Crawling has become and integral part of most core training programs.  The Handwalk or “Inchworm” variation of the crawl is a fantastic way to integrate both core training, scapular stability and hamstring/ankle mobility.

In this video:
1️⃣ Inchworm Forward
2️⃣ Inchworm Reverse

Coaching Points:
1️⃣ Start in a planked position with hips tucked, abs tight, glutes contracted and scaps pushing away from the floor.
2️⃣ Ankle walk the toes toward the hands stopping with the hamstrings are in a good stretch
3️⃣ Handwalk with soft hands and elbows as far out as possible until the anterior core and scap stability is challenged.
4️⃣ Maintain breathing pattern throughout.

As ya know I hiked half dome the other day, but here are the facts and details. I’ve hiked it twice before, but always with big groups. And never in the dark. Started hiking at 1:45ish, got to the trailhead at about 2 (had to park pretty far away). Hiked up in the dark, and didn’t run into a soul the entire 8 miles. Got to the cables (steep ascent to the top of the rock) at around 5:50ish. Ran into a group of 14 people who had started at midnight (#wewon), passed em up, and were the first ones on top of the rock for the sunrise. Beautiful hike, wonderful person @momohammi , and great experience overall.

▶️Rotational Core: Leg Only Roll◀️

With the complexities of Core Training and the multitudes of variations available online, we find that the simple, fundamental patterns get overlooked and then we wonder why pain or lack of performance occur.
-
Here is a simple Rotational Core Pattern we label as a “CLEARANCE” pattern or “FOUNDATIONAL” pattern that must be accomplished prior to moving into more aggressive rotations.
-
Frequently we find that two primary issues occur at the forefront that lead to problems down the road:
1️⃣ Inability to stabilize against rotation
2️⃣ Inability to sequence rotation
-
This pattern addresses #2️⃣
-
Key Coaching Points:
-
1️⃣ It’s a slow, controlled pattern.  NO SPEED or MOMENTUM!!
2️⃣ Use only the Right leg to reach (or vice versa when rotating Right). Do not push off the floor with Left Leg.
3️⃣ Back to Belly is a flexion rotation pattern.  Belly to Back is an extension rotation pattern
4️⃣ Reach until you begin to fall and then simply control the descent.

Sets: 2-4
Reps: 4-6e/ew

Use it as a warm up, motor patterning or part of your core training if it is difficult.
