The Jonathan Corwin House AKA The Witch House is the only structure still standing with direct ties to the Salem Witch Trials (Corwin was one of the judges during the trials). If you only do one thing in Salem, go here. This was the must authentic thing I saw in Salem- much of the interior is original unlike other places, including floors, ceiling beams an furniture. It cost $10.25 and is worth every penny. The entrance doesn't have any stairs so it's partially ADA friendly, but you'd be restricted to the first floor unfortunately. . . . . .
Patiently waiting to be shot out of the sky 😅 • • • • Drone operated by @corporatetony for this shot 🔥
At fifteen days left in the countdown to Christmas, we have a featured festive photo by @charbinger of Downtown Boston. You know it's that special time of year when all the street lamps get decorated with wreaths. 🎄What is your area looking like as we get closer to Christmas? Let us know! This is America's oldest candy company and it can be found in Salem, MA. The Ye Olde Pepper Companie was founded in 1806 and has been selling candies an sweets ever since, including Gibralters, the first candy commercially sold in America, and they are delicious! It's across the street from the House of the Seven Gables, and if you aren't able to visit they do have an online store too. . . . . .
I just love this little block of the city and always feel like I’m walking back in time looking at the Bell in Hand Tavern and of course our famous Union Oyster House - such a Boston original and the oldest restaurant in continuous service in the entire US! Christmas swag was on display in the Union Goods corner store and it’s always a busy spot so I had to wait for some time to get a nice clear shot of this wonderful national historical landmark. #boston#historicallandmark#streetscenes
This is the House of the Seven Gables. You may have heard of it as the title of a book by Nathaniel Hawthorne, which was inspired by this house. His relatives owned this house and he spent some time there, which serve as inspiration for the book. All of the other buildings (there are 4) on the property have been relocated there, including Hawthorne's birthplace. This, in my opinion, lessens my curiosity. Also, there have been some modifications to the interior of the main house which are not original which I really don't like. You can tour all of the buildings on the property for $16 and there is no photography allowed inside the main building. The grounds are ADA friendly but all of the buildings are not. 1. House of the Seven Gables 2. Door of Nails (signifies wealth) 3. Nathaniel Hawthorne's house 4. Retire Beckett House 5. Salem Harbor . . . . .
George enjoys a lot of attention as the subject of many a photographer, me included...Here he is enjoying the twinkle of the holidays lights that transform the public garden into such a festive place, even in the bitter cold! #iheartboston#bostonpublicgarden#georgewashington
