What do you think?
Whenever I teach my Intro to Quilting class at @gothamquilts, I always get asked by my students what I recommend for them to tackle next. I wanted to include at least one super easy quilt in my book that was great for beginners as a fun, simple - second project. The first quilt I teach is a churn dash mini quilt so my thought process what something bigger but not too hard, so that the only new complication would be the size. This quilt is also a bit of a happy mistake. I had originally planned an epic quilt for these fabrics but once I had started cutting out the pieces, I realized that once I squared them up, I was short on the required fabric. So a word of advice - never order exactly what you need because if your sent the exact amount, you won't have enough after making clean, straight edges. So I now had strips cut off varying widths and I decided that by using a larger strip in the middle and 2 smaller ones on each side, it helped fade the colors nicely so I went full in on it and came up with this simple - fun - quilt I then bound it in something unexpected which I'll make sure to get a good picture of soon.
If you swipe, there's a shot of CEO, Diane Keaton smiling. There's also 2 blocks of the sampler quilt I'm making with the fabric @jennismithsews had sent over of the upcoming @libertylondon quilting cottons - The Orchard Garden Collection, which I'm in love with. If you have varying amounts of fabric - a sampler is the perfect way to use it without having to worry about yardage. You just make blocks as you go. You can check out tutorials for these using my @sizzix Big shot plus over on my blog. They're a link in my profile There's a picture I took on a walk with Diane and some cool graffiti I saw a few blocks from me in the east village.
I was struggling getting a picture of this I liked and my good friends stepped up to help me get this great one Credit to @cjgibbs123 - thank you for the awesome picture! And thank you @beansy_quilts for always helping get great shots!
Happy Wednesday! #quilting
