Two curious trends are evident in today's culture. Despite the fact that we’re living through the greatest time in human history, the notion that ‘life is suffering’ is gaining popularity, and mental health issues are on the rise. At the same time, although self-help and 'sorting yourself out' is prominent, with some of its advocates having an audience of millions, the idea of free will and individual autonomy is out of fashion in intellectual circles (including some of the same people who invite us to remake our life). Last September @kevinmbruns shared his amazing story of dealing with cystic fibrosis, refusing to accept his supposedly inevitable "fate," and living the best life he could. For the next event in Josh Dickson's Practical Positive Psychology series, Josh will be joined by Kevin. They will discuss how Kevin's decision to exercise his independent judgement not only saved his life, but led to him to happiness and flourishing. Link in bio.
