Last Friday was funky, in a good way. I knew that in addition to always being too quiet in the mix @ Lehmitz my clean sound was the weak link. My amp has separate volumes for the channels and I am usually too far away (on the bar) to finetune while we play so I don’t use amp switch. I used to put the gain on the amp just a pinch after breakup on humbucker and build gain sounds from there, switching to single coil for cleans.
Friday I used the clean channel for the first time, building crunch with the cool drive, lead with the Friedman Dirty Shirley.
Learnings: Clean was much better. Solo boost was much better. Wah sound was quaking like I always wanted it to (that part I actually don‘t understand).
I already have a replacement for the Cool Drive which blew me away at the first test. Question remains: why didn’t i try this much earlier?
