Switched to more of a bro split as I acclimate to higher mileage right now. Probably too much daily volume but oh well. This style of lifting isn’t the best for hypertrophy or strength, but it has its perks. Anecdotally, I accumulate virtually zero fatigue when I train this way. I have found this to be very helpful when allocating energy elsewhere at certain points.
This is what I did:

A massive credit to Simon Bartold for the content and inspiration behind this week’s blog. I am currently attending his musculoskeletal course and his evidence-based knowledge is world class. Some of you runners can pinpoint training errors which results in achilles pain, but sometimes it is harder to identify. In fact, even inactive populations develop achilles pain. What could be the cause? In addition I would love it if you share your own achilles pain experiences and if you identified the cause at the time it developed.
1.) Increase in training load: Increasing your speed or uphill running will increase the demands of your achilles tendon. If this is done too quickly without allowing the body to adapt then irritation will develop and progress into a tendinopathy. This is the easiest factor to identify and modify to restore full function of the tendon unit.
2.) Lifestyle factors: Above is an example of the tendon exceeding its own load capacity. However, lifestyle factors can also reduce the load tolerance. A runner who is monitoring the same load week by week will increase the risk of overload injuries if they experience increased stress, a reduction in quality of sleep or have changes in medication (particularly NSAIDs). If these lifestyle fluctuations are picked up and training is modified accordingly, you can reduce your risk of injury.
3.) Genetics: This was new to me but there is emerging evidence to support genetics as a factor for overuse injuries and achilles tendinopathy. DNA extraction and genotyping of athletes have shown certain DNA characteristics and linking them to tendon loading failure. This will be tough for you to identify within yourself but useful information to know for those who have no other answers.
4.) The metabolic syndrome: This syndrome is characterised by atherogenic dyslipidemia (high triglycerides, low HDLs), elevated blood pressure, and elevated plasma glucose, all of which are seen in the increasingly obese general population. These directly promote the development of cardiovascular disease, and now, almost certainly appear to be a major contributor to poor tendon health.

Run 1: Today is the official start to my marathon training! I’ve been out of the game for the past month with both sickness and a bad back injury causing some delay but am glad to be back out on the road!

Throughout the next 6 months I will be documenting my journey to become the best athlete I can be. STAGGERING DEPTH AT ETHIOPIAN TRIALS AND 5 GUYS UNDER 27:03 DON’T MAKE TEAM FOR DOHA

My first takeaway from Wednesday night’s result to the men’s 10,000m in Hengelo was the depth was absolutely insane. A country...placed an astonishing 8 men between 26:48 and 27:02. Placing 8th in worlds 2 years ago got you 27:02. Computer guided lights helped them pace to a 27:05 time and was a bonus to the fact most of the best men in the world ran in the race. Several of these men, in fact every Ethiopian who didn’t break 26:50, will most likely not be of the 3 selected for worlds as the 3 per nation rule limits them to.

The big 3 from Brussels last year stole the show with Hagos Gebrhiwet (26:48.95), Selemon Barega (26:49.46), and Yomif Kejelcha (26:49.99) placing at the top in world leading times. Neither man has run this distance more than twice and Kejelcha’s mark just misses the debut record of a guy you may know Eliud Kipchoge (26:49.02) from 2007. Kenya-based Swiss runner Julien Wanders in 9th produced 27:17.27 to go with his 13:13.84 5000m best in Lausanne.

先シーズンは違和感出ても決めた練習をやり切ってたけど、結果的に痛みで練習できない期間が何回かありました😵

今シーズンは体の調子を意識して、練習を継続したいと思います‼️👍

Установила новый личный рекорд💪🏻.

Положила в сумку енерджигель, 0.33 воды и примерно 0.35 эль карнитина в руку и побежала в сторону самого позорного парка. Бежала 7км/минута, боялась устать раньше времени.

На мосту из-за не очень умных родителей и таких же одаренных детей, которые не дают по нему ни пройти ни проехать, я подвернула ногу, лишь бы не сбить девчулю, которая в такой толпе еще и совершала хаотичные движения. Бегу я такая с целью пробежать минимум 15 и на 3м км подворачиваю ногу. Лучше бы сбила девчулю в воду к уточкам 🦆. При чем подвернула не легонько, а нормально так вывихнула. Первый км после этого бежала с остановками, очень больно было, боялась, что на этом я закончила. Но продолжила. На седьмом километре я эпично споткнулась и упала из-за той же ноги, которую не могла поднимать. Ну их нахер, эти лесные поляны, тем более в тёмное время суток там мрак какой-то. Эх, выбежала на дороги уличные и воздух в 22 часа показался даже таким же свежим как и в 6 утра. Да еще и темно... жаль что была пятница, потому как пришлось очень много раз вдохнуть алкогольные парЫ. Фи.

Первые 9км я пила эль-кар. На 10 км я выпила гель. Не поняла зачем, но читала, что надо. Как его пить? Когда чувствуешь силы на исходе или каждые 8-10 ?? Запила водой побольше (которой и не хватило в итоге). Может быть гель то меня и держал остальные 6 км? Хз.
На последних 1-2 километрах я уже прочувствовала ноги. Болели икры, ляхи, но стопа тоже напоминала о себе, если вставала на носок.

Сейчас утро, сейчас больно ступать на носок. В целом вроде без боли, но лежу, приложив куриную сиську. Потом бинтом обмотаю. Надеюсь сегодня тренировка в бассейне поможет мне с этой бедой🤞🏻. К травматологу идти не хочу. Хватит одного с меня.

4/54 - So many memories come back to my mind while I run these tracks @ #chipinque . My dad took us here years ago, it's great to remember the joy of sliding down a bunch of times.
