“Blessed is the man whom You instruct, O Lord, and teach out of Your law, that You may give him rest from the days of adversity.” (Psalm 94:12-13)
Finding true rest in God is a journey. We hold onto so much unnecessary baggage, oftentimes without even realizing it. We hold onto fears, doubts, and insecurities. We say we give them completely over to God, but it’s hard to break the cycle of relying on ourselves.
This past week, God took me out of my daily routine and spoke to me on letting go of past wounds that I didn’t even realize were still holding me back; on being confident in who He made me to be, instead of constantly feeling unworthy in the eyes of the world around me; and on finding true rest in Him, instead of flitting about from task to task, taking the whole world on my shoulders when it was never mine to take.
God wants to break us free from our fears, from our doubts, from our anxieties, and from our insecurities. He wants us to find true rest in Him. He wants us to walk with Him every second of our days.
He wants us to find Heaven here on earth.
It’s possible. It’s here. Heaven is all around us—but we have to be willing.
We have to be willing to set aside our pain, our baggage, our egos, our hang-ups, and our self-reliance. We have to be willing to surrender and be present in this moment, in this breath. We must choose to breathe Him in, the source of our peace, of our blessings, of our very heartbeats. Because true rest is only possible with God, and it is in the acceptance that we are perfect and complete in the way He created us to be, and in the way that Christ died for us to be, that peace abounds.
We aren’t called to struggle, nor to find worth in what we do. We are called to rest. To peace. To love. We are called to security and to worth in Him alone.
Stop striving. Start living.
