Photo by @stephenwilkes | The newest image in the Day to Night series is finally complete! This scene, photographed in British Columbia's Bella Coola, captures grizzly bears looking for food in their natural habitat during the salmon run. Due to climate change, the rivers in which the salmon travel are hotter and drier than ever before, leading to an increase in fish mortality and fewer fish for the bears to feed on. I plan to continue this project, capturing other threatened and endangered species, in the hope of creating awareness about the dangers of climate change and the effect of man on natural habitats. The Day to Night series began in 2009. These epic cityscapes and landscapes, portrayed from a fixed camera angle for up to 30 hours, capture fleeting moments of humanity and nature as light passes in front of his lens over the course of full day. Blending these images into a single photograph takes months to complete. Photo by @PaulNicklen // The aurora borealis illuminates the dark Yukon sky as this small glowing cabin brings warmth to a chilly Arctic night. This vibrant dance of lights across the sky can seem otherworldly, and some Inuit groups believe that the mysterious lights are the spirits of animals that had been hunted by them. #FollowMe at @PaulNicklen for more photos from the #Arctic. #Yukon #NorthernLights #nature #photography

For the past five years, artist Parth Kothekar (@parthkothekar) has hand-carved creations, each from a single sheet of paper. It takes him about three weeks to sketch 20 to 30 designs. Then, Parth, 27, selects his 10 favorite ones and starts cutting away. Each papercut can take up to an entire week to complete, down to the last detail.
Although Parth’s intricate masterpieces might seem frail, the women they depict are anything but. “I was brought up seeing the struggle of my mother,” he says. “That’s why I always create female characters. I wanted to show them as powerful and strong through my artwork.” See how these intricate papercuts are made, today on our story.
