I was lucky enough to attend a media preview event at the new #poketoprojectspace last week @therow + it made me feel slightly hopeful amidst all the weird change happening in DTLA. It’s comforting to see a longstanding brand/business like @poketo (@angiepoketo + @tedpoketo) find ways to thrive in an environment they helped shape at the beginning of it all - Back when DTLA creeped out the same people now taking selfies in front of murals today. Poketo first opened shop in the “arts district” (in quotes because real struggling artists could never afford to live/open up shop there anymore) but were forced out last year due to a new landlord. And instead of defeat they only grew ... literally with locations in Little Tokyo, @platform + @thelinehotel ... This newest space feels like witnessing a Poketo all growed up, while still holding on to that community vibe most places shed after they secure your business. Thanks @poketo for showing other businesses how it’s done we’re counting on you!
