Sundays used to suck. When we were young you spent the day thinking of going to school the next day. Now we’re working everyone has the fear Sunday night that you gotta get up Monday morning and head to the office. But if you work from home and can spend Mondays in your pjs Sunday really is funday🤪

Decided to test out what my 1 rep max is.
I don't really deadlift so wasn't really sure what I was capable of. My bw is currantly 73 kilos. I lifted 160 Inc the bar so a little over double my bw. Happy out with that. On another note 📝 I am absolutely DELIGHTED to hear that the way I am training is having such a drastically negative effect on so called “experts” who have taken it upon themselves to pass comments on social media about how I train, almost describing down to a T how I train yet not quite having the balls to say it to myself! I train in LPC where the best coach you will find in the world trains and owns! I have learned so much from this man and also from my previous coach who I started my powerlifting career with! I have started to finally find a balance between the two very different methods of training that has my numbers flying up on a weekly basis and at a much lower body weight then ever before! So it’s obvious , what works for some people dosent work for everyone so to take templates given to you (I speak to these individuals posting about me here) or methods and say the person who gave you them created them and they are the only way to train or else you are going no where or not gonna last .. Happiness .

- A word with numerous different meanings and attachments which each and everyone of us find in different ways.
-
My happiness is focusing on my health. Anyone that knows me, knows I’m the happiest when I’m at the gym or when I’m doing some form of physical activity whilst fuelling my body well .
Am I obsessed? Maybe to some. But to me, I’m just looking after my head and after myself by doing things that I genuinely feel happiest at.
-
Life’s much easier when you find the route to your own happiness. -
-
It doesn’t have to be all the stress in the world to get that material object such as an expensive fancy car.
Start with something much less than that, such as yourself, and go from there. Life’s hard as it is, always have your “go to”, to fall back on. It’s never “uncool” to do that.

Spent the weekend at @cartonhouse attending a fabulous wedding, which means food prep took a bit of a back seat this week! I’ve prepped salads for lunch, portions of Bolognese and also turkey burgers and baked potatoes for dinner (will cook veg fresh), over night oats for breakfast and snacks are coconut yoghurt with raspberry blended in, fresh blueberries and home made granola & fresh pineapple. Not a full prep this week, but even having a few bits prepped like this makes life easier!... I also forgot to buy containers 🤷‍♀️ Not a huge prep this week... salads for lunch, fruit, home made trail mix and porridge muffins with berries for snacks, over night oats prepped for breakfasts.

The term ‘Health & Fitness’ means different things to different people. For me, above all, it’s about a sense of well being. Yes it’s great fun lifting weights in the gym, going for a run outdoors or doing a tough conditioning session. It’s a great feeling when you start to see your bodyfat dropping, toned muscles appearing or your cardiovascular fitness improving. However - most people who have an interest in health & fitness do so for far more meaningful reasons than those (nothing wrong with those reasons btw!). Some people who first walk into a gym are barely able to look at themselves in the mirror. Others may lack the confidence to strike up a conversation with someone, or spent the majority of their childhood being bullied for their size and/or body shape. There are those who may want to prolong their life by improving their health, keep osteoporosis at bay, or simply be able to stay active for as long as possible; the list is endless. The point is these reasons go far deeper than a nice set of glutes or pecs. My last few pics haven’t been fitness related, but they’ve been ‘well-being’ related, because there is nothing or nobody in the world that makes me feel happier than my little boy smiling, laughing & running around the place - if that’s not a sense of well-being then I don’t know what is ❤️ #motivation #fitnessgoals #personaltrainer #happiness #weekendvibes #myboy #love #sunday .

If there is one thing that I always recommend to a new client, whenever they come in for a consultation, it is the importance of food quality.
.

Food quality is even more important at the moment with the ever-increasing rise in obesity statistics.
.

Irish men already have the highest BMI (body mass index), in Europe, while Irish women rank third, the study shows.
.

Almost one-fifth of the world’s obese adults (118 million) live in Ireland and five other high-income English-speaking countries
By 2025, 37 per cent of Irish women will be obese, just behind 38 per cent in the UK, the study forecasts.
.

We did not get to these statistics by eating a diet that consists of a high quality of food.
.

During the 2000’S, it wasn’t only Ireland’s prosperity that was growing, our waist lines were growing alongside the Celtic Tiger and, unfortunately for us, it didn’t slow down like the economy.
.

When you look at countries who have had prosperity since the 1980’s you will also see a rising problem with obesity.
.

The USA were 1st, then Britain and now Ireland has caught up and is slowly taking the lead.
.

If we look at what prosperity brought with it, in regard to how we eat and how we view ourselves as a nation, it seems to have brought a sense of entitlement with it, and this hasn’t gone away.
.

We seem to feel entitled to have the things that once would have been classed as a ‘special treat’, and we want them all the time.
.

Coming from the humble beginnings that Ireland did over the last century, you could hardly blame people for splashing out on things that were once out of reach due to financial constraints.
.

But the Celtic Tiger has been put out to pasture and we are left with a nation that is becoming more and more obese with each passing year.

ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION & WEIGHT LOSS: ⬇️⬇️

➡️If you want to lose weight but you’ve a night out on the cards, at least make smart choices with your drinks
.
➡️Ditch the cans/pints of regular beers/cider. Instead choose ‘Light’ beers and spirits
.
➡️1 naggin of vodka (450 calories) has roughly the same alcohol content as 4 cans of beer/cider (800-1000 calories)
.
➡️MIXERS: Can of White Monster (0 calories) has the same caffeine content as 2 cans of Red Bull (225 calories)
.
➡️500ml bottle of coke = 210 calories. Coke Zero = 0 calories
.
➡️THAT DAY: Reduce how much food you eat, do some intense exercise (a run/gym session) and DO NOT order a needless 1000 calorie kebab tray. Go straight home after the night ends as hard as that may sound
.
➡️Drink plenty of water that day and before you go to bed to reduce your hangover and increase the chances of you eating & training properly the next day
.
➡️I obviously do not promote binge drinking but the reality is this is a part of our culture. The majority of people want to be in shape but still be able to get pissed every so often so the best thing to do is try and manage calorie consumed on those days
.
➡️If you have serious/extraordinary weight loss & body composition goals you cannot afford to be getting paraplegic drunk every week. Between the heavy calories of drink itself & eating of calorie dense foods the next day due to lowered inhibitions you will find it very hard to stay in a calorie deficit (eating less each day/week than you burn off)

Time is precious
.
As much as I love training and enjoy getting to the gym to lift some heavy shit I don’t always have a few hours available
.
I have a young family that I like to give as much of myself as possible to
.
I run a small but busy business that takes a lot of time, energy and focus
.
I like to watch sports and take naps
.
All these things compete with training for time in my schedule and it may surprise you but training is not always my greatest priority (usually it’s naps)
.
Still, I like to get a minimum of 3 challenging sessions in per week. I don’t feel the same if I don’t
.
Sometimes that’s a 2hour squat, bench and deadlift sesh in the gym. Sometimes it’s 15mins of throwing a kettlebell or sandbag around on the deck
.
The point is, I have options for times when I have time, and options for times when I barely have time
.
Something will always come up that gets in the way or takes a lot of your energy. Do you skip training altogether? Or do you have a back-up plan - a quick and nasty workout to pump you up and tide you over?

It’s crazy to think that it’s been a week since I’ve came home from Birmingham 😧 but yet only feels like a few days ago I was talking to people I follow on here or watch on YouTube.

To then talking about Northern Ireland & about the fighting that went on in the past. Really made you feel at ease despite being a pretty big deal in the fitness industry she really made you feel comfortable. Thank you Courtney!!

No matter how disciplined you are the holidays binge is inevitable! So here are 5 tips for getting back on track post holiday binge! -

1: Let go of the guilt; this can be more damaging than the actual binge, just move on and write it off as a mental / diet break (which you need sometimes after long periods of restriction / cutting). Focus on the good times had / memories made! -

2: Set Goals; get control back by writing down your plan for the next couple weeks / months of training. When you write down goals your mind tends to focus more on how to achieve these goals. Plan ahead #preparationbeatswillpower -

3: Eat Smart; Go back to basics... start your day with a protein packed breakfast and a green smoothie on the side. A good breakfast will keep you fuller for longer throughout the day which will help when eating in a calorie deficit (less food). -

4: Get Moving; get back into / start your new training program (from step 2). Moving more is an easier way to create a calorie deficit, rather than restricting your calories drastically. Whether it’s gym, running, walking(steps), bike... start with a slightly lower volume than you had been doing pre holiday, as you’ll need 2-3 sessions to get back into the swing of things. -

5: Hydrate; Don’t confuse dehydration for hunger, have a glass of water 20mins pre and during meals. Water is essential as it aids with energy levels and brain function. -

Plyometric warmup😁

Plyo exercises are explosive bursts of movements in which the muscles exert maximum force for short periods of time, similar to HIIT training but mostly includes jump movements are are usually weighted! .

A new kind of training for me that I’m lovingggg lately and really effective for fat burning and getting shweatyyy🔥 .
. 🌈 Do 8-10 reps each with no rest in between for 3 sets .
. ‼️Extremely important to land with slightly bent knees to avoid injury, also practice form unweighted first and then start with light weight‼️ .
