Beautiful day on Balboa Island overlooking the Newport Bay with the iconic 100 year old Balboa Pavilion in the background. I sold my first painting at an art show on the island and was lucky that the owner of the Heart of the Island gallery invited me to show my art there until she retired and closed the gallery a few years ago. Some of my customers live on the island and I am busy this time of year painting flags, bicycles and porches with the pavilion in the background #balboaisland#flags#islandlife#coastalcottageart
Cleansing my mind has become an important and regular mental health practice for me. It is really tough to quiet my brain, my perpetual thoughts, over analyzing every situation and having fake conversations with people in my head.
One way I am able to quiet the noise is to push myself so hard climbing a mountain or catching a wave that there is no space left in my thoughts for anything else. When my body is busy working close to maximal capacity, and my mental focus is required to stay above the water, dodge a wave, clear the boulder I can finally find peace and quiet in my own head.
