You truly know what kind of film you are in for after watching the first 10 minutes of Baby Driver. Ansel Elgort plays Baby, a getaway driver who relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack that helps tune out the constant ringing and buzzing in his ears from chronic tinnitus caused by a car accident when he was a child. As a teen, he was coerced into working for a crime boss (Kevin Spacey). He meets a girl (Lily James) and falls in love. Now, he's coerced again into a doomed heist and has to rely on his best of the best skills to save him and his love from the incoming threat. This is quite a film experience that is built unique and inspiring from Edgar Wright. The music and edits are alive and their own individuals that are incredible. I bought very well into the romance and was attached to it easily. The action filled chase scenes put Fast and Furious to shame due to its realistic approach rather than over-the-top with digital effects. Only thing that bummed me a little bit is that I don't feel the film completely paid off for a perfect rating but I sure am going to revisit this film for how great it was and that the style the music is played in to match the moves and style of the movie is how I listen to music and move through my day. It truly spoke to me.
