I was lucky to encounter this beautiful Rough-necked Monitor one day when I was out hiking in the forest. It's said to be rarely seen, but it's uncertain if this is due to iys rarity or if it just has a very secretive behaviour.
They can have a total length (snout to tail-tip) up to 1.3 meters. I would say this one wasn't far from that length.
They are arboreal (living in trees), diurnal (active during daytime) and feed on mainly insects as well as frogs, small mammals, reptiles and fish.
