New Enlightened Flavors: Glazed Donut & S’mores
A couple of reviews coming at you right now. I know that the new @eatenlightened flavors have been flooded your Instagram feed lately, but I wanted to throw in my opinion. I have been with this company since the beginning back when they had their plastic ice cream pints with only a handful of flavors. It has been incredible to watch them grow and be a part of it. Thanks to @eatenlightened and all the great people behind the brand for allowing me to spread the word.
Let’s start off with one of the more unique flavors. Glazed Donut. This is definitely one that I was excited to try. I am a huge fan of the Oh Yeah One bar with that flavor so I thought this can’t be bad. The flavor, to be honest, was great BUT disappointing at the same time. Let me explain. I loved the taste, the sweetnesses was on point; however, it tasted nothing like glazed donut. If you have ever had their birthday cake flavor then you’ve had this base. They must use the same recipe for both pints. The only difference between the glazed donut and birthday cake pints are the additional sprinkles and fudge swirl in the donut flavor that take it to the next level. This one would probably crack my top 5, but barely. Nothing too special. Try it out if you can, but no need to go out of your way for this one. 6/10.
Next on the agenda S’mores. I’m going to make this one short and sweet. This pint shocked me. It was outstanding for a low calorie protein ice cream. The flavor was pretty spot on in my opinion. I would have loved the marshmallow base to have more of a “toasted” flavor, but not too shabby for the calorie count. Now this is one of the higher calorie pints at 400, but that’s still amazing for what you get here. The texture and flavor from the fudge swirl and graham crackers pieces landed this pint in my top 3 Enlightened flavors. Final rating: 8/10. Get this one.
Now it’s been a while since I’ve had an Enlightened pint just because when I moved to NC I was put in place that doesn’t sell the brand. I’ve been having to settle for other low calorie ice cream brands (you know who I’m talking about). I forgot...continued in comments...
