I will never not run out of work to pick up some @junkyardbrewing Super Slurp when the twitter announces an ETA for its @france_44 drop.
And this is why: the cherry hibiscus version. The aroma reminds me of a cherry creamsicle but doesn’t prepare you for the ensuing tart bomb. And though there’s plenty of pucker, this one doesn’t have the cheek-tingling shocktart effect, like the other versions. I personally love that about the other ones, but I don’t mind its absence in this installment. Maybe because it’s still super tart, and the cherry tastes natural, not like a candy flavoring that so many cherry sours fall victim to. And I wonder if the hibiscus is helping to tame the sweetness in addition to giving the beer its herbal tea finish. It’s really something else, definitely the most complex of the series. I want to say this beer is like a thicker version of a kriek. Mmm, the taste lingers, too.
