Photo by @stephenwilkes | A lone rhino ambles through this painterly scene in the Ngorongoro Crater. This three million year old crater was once a volcano, said to be similar in height to Mount Kilimanjaro before its eruption. It now exists as a natural enclosure for approximately 25,000 animals, allowing photographers and scientists alike to get a closer look at many endangered species who reside here. Honey Harvesting | Photograph by Terra Fondriest (@terrafondriest)
.
Local beekeepers in the Arkansas Ozarks remove honey from hives scattered around their property. "The Usrey brothers learned beekeeping from their father," says #YourShotPhotographer Terra Fondriest. "He’s kept bees most of their lives, but his health can’t keep up with it anymore, so the boys do the hive work now."

Today we are featuring @natgeoyourshot photographs selected for @natgeo “Photo of the Day.” To see more, go to natgeo.com/pod.

I’m finishing my visit to Saudi Arabia where I attending the opening race for the 2019 Formula e Series.

Before the trip I was able to visit Medain Saleh, which is a World Heritage Site in the north of the country. It is very similar to Petra in Jordan and was built by the same Nabatean people. It has been high on my list of world heritage sites to. Is it for a long time.

I’ll be posting a very long article on my thoughts on visiting Saudi Arabia on Facebook. I will provide a link and notification when it is up over on my Instagram Stories.

The World at Night project
A couple of nights ago in a remote corner of the Death Valley, California, one of the driest places on the planet and a vast Dark Sky Park, where natural night is protected from light pollution. Stars of Orion, the Hunter, are the icons of the winter sky, next to Sirius, the brightest star in the Earth night sky. The yellow glow on the horizon, from the surprising distance of 150 miles, is the light of Los Angeles.

Weekend Hashtag Project: #WHPjoyful
This weekend the challenge is to make images and videos that capture a spirit of joy, as in this featured photo from Tony Noël (@tony_noel). Here are some tips to get you started:
Head out. Think about the places you go that make you feel free and joyful. Set up an excursion — it can be solo or with a group of friends — to take pictures, make videos and enjoy the day.
Express your joy. Get creative with the action in your submission and think about the actions that bring you joy — like dancing, drawing and hiking — or express an emotional release, like a big belly laugh.
Consider symbols. Birds in flight, flowers and hearts, the wind in your hair, tossing leaves into the air, or even something as simple as your body language can express joy and freedom.
PROJECT RULES: Please add the #WHPjoyful hashtag only to photos and videos shared over this weekend and only submit your own visuals to the project. By adding the #WHPjoyful hashtag, you consent to and grant Instagram all rights to repost your photo or video. If you include music in your video submissions, please only use music to which you own the rights. Any tagged photo or video shared over the weekend with the #WHPjoyful hashtag is eligible for the project and, if selected, to be featured next week.

@jassensf pictures thousands of Volkswagen and Audi cars sitting idle in the Mojave Desert near Victorville, California. Diesel models manufactured from 2009 to 2015 intentionally cheated emissions tests mandated by the Environmental Protection Agency. Following the scandal, VW recalled millions of cars. Jassen Todorov says, "By capturing scenes like this one, I hope we will all become more conscious and more caring for our beautiful planet.
