@alicebenbridge again.. Feeling the pressure of the GRADUATE ARTIST RESIDENCY title and opportunity I thought I’d share the load and invite other graduates to have in on it. Call this hosting strangers 2.0, GRADUATE ARTIST’s IN (MY) RESIDENCE.
After creating an open call published on Curator Space, I invited estranged graduates to come and stay with me, in my pokey 1 bed for a night or few.
In this, I chose to explore the fact of living in a place, namely Plymouth, for a residential post held by an artist, to critique the very notion of an artist residency by hosting one myself.
My aim: to epitomise the components and gain of an artist residency, through mutually entering an unknown encounter, experimentation, exchange and dialogue. In turn I bridged and forged relationships cross-culturally, on a local and potentially global level building a network which facilitates discussion and critique. And thus, through enabling the creative process in an organised shared experience and space, my visitors and I contribute to the (our) arts ecosystem.
Exhibition Opening: Friday 25th January / 7-10pm
