It's been quite a long time since I last wrote a personal essay on EAF. And the reason was one I could not ignore; I needed to take a hiatus. For over a month I have struggled to write about the "life" topics that used to flow so fluently from my brain to the keyboard. Was I out of things to say? Had I suddenly become a terrible writer? My writer's block was frustrating, annoying, and in the way dammit! I was at a loss for how to get rid of it; it was a pest that refused to be exterminated. And turns out the only way to rid myself of it was to take a break and observe the world from a different vantage point. Not as an allergy blogger, but just as myself. Today I finally sat down, with this beautiful plate of avocado toast, and wrote freely about why I took a hiatus. Click the link in bio for the full piece. Hubby and I crushed our workout tonight. Day 1 or Shift Shop. After such a busy day it felt great to finally sweat. Now it’s time to crush some dinner and get some coaching work done cause this girls got goals to crush this month.

This little scruffy chicken 😆🐥 There is not much better in life than snuffling into a bubba fresh out of the bath ☺️ She has been going great guns since taking off her brace, we have dropped one of her day sleeps so she is now only having 2, and it has made such a difference! She has always been a good sleeper, but now both sleeps are at least an hour (yesterday one was 2hrs 20mins!) and it just has such a flow on effect for the whole day, because I can get all of the meals and washing done, so when she is awake its all play time 😊 .

This past long weekend we went and visited my family in northern Michigan’s the perfect place to disconnect and enjoy family and the lake. Even though I wasn’t following the program we were still very active. Though back to the grind today and I struggled, somehow my arms got super weak 😂😂 Dinner was paleo meatballs and zoodles! 6.18.18 | Sorry for the over load of pool instas, but I love living at a house with some water in my backyard all summer long. It was WAY too hot and humid for a run today or outside BBG, but it was the PERFECT pool day. So instead my cousin and I made up cardio water workouts! 45 mins later of continuous laps across the shallow end, I can say for sure I'll be a tad sore tomorrow. Love having fun without feeling like I'm actually exercising. 💦

So I went to my nutritionist for a weigh in on Friday and found out that while I did lose some weight some of it was muscle ☹️. This is most likely because I’m not getting enough protein in my diet. I had a feeling this might have been happening- I was feeling pretty hungry all week and since protein helps you feel full I wondered if my levels were low and this confirms it. Up until recently I was eating in a caloric deficit...because of that I was hungry a lot so I used up every bit of my macros aka I tried to end my days as close to “0” as possible. Now that I’m on maintenance, I don’t stress if my macros aren’t perfect st the end of the day. I’m also doing more exchanging between carb/fat calories depending on my preferences for the day. Remember you CAN be flexible! I was strict during the reverse diet phase (you sorta have to be for it to work) but now I’ve finished and can enjoy more flexibility!

Here’s the breakdown ⤵️
🍌 Breakfast 6:45 a.m. : protein oats with banana and @rxbar vanilla almond butter • 392 calories | 44 C, 16 F, 21 P
🥛 Snack #1 9:30 a.m. : Greek yogurt with blueberries • 148 calories | 19 C, 1 F, 19 P
🥗 Lunch 12:30 a.m. : spinach salad with turkey and blue cheese and a honey crisp apple • 452 calories | 47 C, 16 F, 28 P
🥜 Snack #2 1:30 p.m. : pb & berries @rxbar • 200 calories | 25 C, 7 F, 12 P
🍠 Dinner 6:00 p.m. : grilled tilapia, roasted asparagus, sweet potato and buttered toast • 421 calories | 60 C, 6 F, 34 P

Six months of persistence and patience. I actually quit bbg a couple of times after taking the pic on the left. I'm glad I finally pulled through. I had no confidence that I'd complete it even when I started out in December last year. So much so that I created this account only after reaching week 10 cause I was afraid I'd fail yet again. Sometimes you have to push through the negative thoughts in your head, that's the biggest battle. I reached out to @aminabfit from my personal IG account she was so supportive and patiently answered questions I had about BBG. That definitely gave me encouragement. So grateful to this @bbg_community that keeps inspiring me and reminds me that I can do it too :-) And of course thank you @kayla_itsines for this program that has worked wonders for me.

There’s been like a huge heatwave in the Midwest which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but it’s definitely impacting workouts. Since it was so hot I decided to work legs per usual but do a lot of more cardio-intense, body weight exercises. CARDIO is definitely good for burning fat but I don’t like to do more than 20-30mins of it. Which is probably why I love love love HIIT circuits. Try this one out that I finished my day with. 😁😁😁

Deconstructed veggie #sushi bowl 🍣 quick and easy dinn cuz it’s one of those days where I’m exhausted on all levels. Just a reminder that it’s more than OK to have those days!! For every hard day there’s 1000 better ones ahead. We ALL have those days. If you think someone’s life is perfect, it’s not! Being perfect isn’t the goal either. We have to go through hard times to learn how to grow, to figure out what’s important, to decide what we do and don’t want for our lives ✨ we GROW through what we GO through 🙏🏻

For this simple dinn, toss everything in a bowl (mango, avocado, cucumber, carrots, sprouts) with sesame seeds, chopped nori and Atlantic dulse. Coat everything well with the avocado! Option to add some coconut aminos 🤤

dinnaaaa➡️first things first preheat your oven to 400°F, the. thaw 1 big piece frozen, wild caught salmon by running it under cold water until it’s soft. transfer thawed salmon to a bowl and coat it with ~1 tbsp @traderjoes korean bbq sauce & let it marinate while you work on your veggies. for the veggies chop up whatever colorful produce you have/want (i used purple cauli, red bell pepper, zucchini & summer squash, broccoli, asparagus, & sweet potato wedges), spread them on a pan, spray them with @chosenfoods avo oil, and toss them with some pink salt & @simplyorganicfoods cracked black pepper. then pop them in your preheated oven & cook for ~15 minutes. after that flip them & add the salmon to the pan wherever there’s room. continue to cook for ~10 minutes/until everything is done to your liking. while that’s cooking line a bowl with tons of @organicgirl butter lettuce & when the rest of your meal is done plate it all on top of the lettuce. add some @wholefoods mango salsa & beetroot dip to the mix and your dinner is good to goooooo. hope everyone’s monday went well!💚

🥥ALMOND JOY ENERGY BITES🥥

Holy crap these are so good. I was having a hard time finding the motivation to workout today but I didn’t want to get caught eating a bunch of junk so I whipped these up today. And they were literally the easiest thing to make (if you have a food processor). I got the recipe from @blessthismessblog and made just a couple tweaks •

1 cup dates
1 cup almonds
2-3 tbsp chocolate protein powder (original recipe calls for cocoa powder but I wanted to add the extra protein 💪🏻)
1/4 cup shredded coconut
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Pinch of sea salt
1/8 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)
Extra shredded coconut for sprinkling (optional)

Put everything in your food processor and blend til dough starts to form and nuts are well chopped. If dough is too loose (see 4th pic, it resembles coarse sand) add more dates and blend well again. Dump in another large bowl and fold in mini chocolate chips (optional- the original recipe didn’t call for this but, you know, sweet tooth). Take a tablespoon of the “dough” and form into a ball. I placed all of them on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and sprinkled the extra shredded coconut all over and then rolled all the balls in it to coat. Place in fridge to set and store 👌🏻 You can freeze these bad boys too, though I haven’t tried it •

Strong body, strong mind. This is what separates the high performers from others - they look after their well-being and place equal importance on their physical and mental well-being! This is why I still make an effort to stay active and nourish my body with whole foods. 🍀 .

Last week, I was invited to the launch of @zadi.training - boutique studio for BAD-ASS BOSS LADY (love, love, love this!) So, it is essentially F45 on steroids AND you get to hang around like-minded women. You get to release your stress, get those endorphins pumping and meet bad ass women to talk about business. Totally up my alley! 🤗 .

This photo totally says it all on how challenging the training was! My DOMs went on for 3 days and I walked like I’ve just been ran over by the truck 😂 But it was just the push I needed - I have been a little slack on the training end since I stopped becoming a fitness instructor. This reminded how good it is to kick ass in an intensive workout again! 👊🏼 And I probably should start doing proper HIIT & functional training again. .

As much as I would love for this to be my spread of food this week, it’s not...Instead of spending my Sunday in the kitchen, I made a little day trip to D.C. to surprise my dad for Father’s Day ❤️😍 My heart (and tummy) are so full and I’m feeling so grateful! I’ll never forget the look on my dad’s face yesterday when I walked into the bar and surprised him 😂 Truly unforgettable and such a special moment. Since I got back this morning, my fridge is BARE and I’m reminiscing on last week’s spread of all the goods 🤤 Good thing I’m stocked up on @perfectbar and canned tuna for now… 🤷‍♀️ #easymealswithmb #bitesonabudget.

SUMMERTIME BOWL in a bowl bigger than my head:
Heat up a pan on medium heat. Add two heaping handfuls of kale, two heaping handful of zoodles, 1/2 cup of peas, one diced chicken breast. Sauté for ~ 6-8 mins. Top with @traderjoes tomato basil marinara sauce + a radish (my new fav thing) + sesame seeds

riding 100 km
in the North Bay!! Thanks, @theguardsmen, for organising the charity fun-draiser!
I did not train to ride 💯 km, so my goal was to pre-hydrate for two days prior, show up with a good attitude and spend the day riding my bike enjoying the scenic route. The camaraderie and route did not disappoint!
