Such a busy, busy weekend on and off the road! .
First up was Beat the Train 🚞on the @waterfordgreenway yesterday morning. A sold out event, with all proceeds going to the Waterford and South Kilkenny branch of @downsyndromeireland. .
It started at the Train station in Kilmeaden, headed in toward town 5 miles and back again!
The plan was to go out in 6.30/35s for a few miles and then try to pick it up. There was a breeze off the river all the way out so wasn't able to pick it up too much, averaged 6.36 for the first 5. I had sat in alongside anitehr guy and we were step for step all the way. Once we turned at half way it was like going downhill without the breeze. (In fact it was downhill also 🤣). He took off so I just hung on! Around mile 7 though he started to drift back so I pushed on and managed to pass maybe 2 more guys before the last mile. I was working hard at this stage. I heard the train tooting a good bit back and just prayed it wouldn't come to a sprint 🤣! Luckily it didn't! I finished in 1.05.29, 6.28s on the return leg and very bloody glad to be finished! Nowhere near a PB but not bad for a Saturday jaunt! 2nd place too, way way begind Ruth Fitzgerald who hammered her way out and back in 59.20 😲!
There were plenty more #adelesgazelles in action also! Dolores 1.23.41, Anna 1.25.46, Aisling 1.28.37, Michelle 1.28.04, Siobhan 1.29.46,
Dave 1.17.10, Seamus Ward 1.13.48. Super runs all round.
Well done to Ian, Trevor, Sinead and co who hosted an amazing event for a super cause. They just keep giving and should be very proud of themselves. Roll on 2019!
