First thoughts on Young Thug's On The Rvn EP
Young Thug released a suprised EP last night & I enjoyed this project way more than Slime Language.. I know it was a collaborative effort but Thug to me just didn't sound good imo. However on this EP he continued his solo streak with his creativity & uniqueness that makes him stand out in the trap genre. One thing I always admired about him is that he's not afraid to take risks with this music no matter how left field it might be.
On to the project I got most of what I expected from Thug. Most of the tracks where good but I just really didn't care for the first two tracks On The Run & Icey. To me he could've shorten those two songs little bit to make it less repetitive. Climax was a cool track with a dope feature from 6lack. I really like the instrumental more than the overall track tho. Sin was kind of the same feeling, Jaden was cool but I don't really care for him as a rapper & Thug did his thing as always. Real In My Viens was another cool single & really enjoyed his delivery with the upbeat instrumental. Now we are at the last song High which happens to be my favorite. Elton John & Thugger was one of the most odd collabs of the year but this track was just beautiful. The hook was catchy & the overall "vibe" of the song was just amazing. Overall I thought this EP was cool but nothing special. I do admire Thug for continuing to take risks to standout as an artist, I just don't enjoy this one as much as his previous projects.
