Tonight I’m especially thankful that I have people to lean on. Sometimes it’s easy to let yourself be taken advantage of. While I fully believe the world is good, and that each and every person has good in them, that doesn’t mean that everyone will treat you with respect. Some people will try to use you for everything you’re worth, treat you like dirt, and decide it’s all your fault when something doesn’t go their way. “You can’t make everyone happy,” as Kameron has to tell me way too frequently, and he’s right. •
I am not one to rant, but something has been going on for months now that has finally come to a conclusion with a discovery I made tonight. I am frustrated and saddened, but that’s okay. Moving forward and upward and counting my blessings on this rainy night.

This guy had the biggest and sweetest smiles for me <3
I've been looking through my external drives this week at the thousands and thousands of pictures I have taken of my girls thus far. Documenting their lives has been a privilege.
I used to do family portraits and I stopped. Can I be honest here??? Everyone wanted me to take pictures of them all looking at the camera and everyone smiling. I couldn't do it anymore. Now granted, I understand you want that one perfect image to frame above your mantle and everyone needs to be looking and smiling. But, do we really need a full gallery of that?! SO, I quit taking pictures.
I believe part of the journey is learning what you're good at it and setting up camp there. Sneaking up on my girls doing their thing, being themselves, laughing at the best jokes, sitting quietly with their favorite book at the moment...all of these things are what I LOVE capturing! I love DOCUMENTING. THIS is what I'm good at. This is where my passion meets my talent.
The family pictures (I can say out loud) I am not good at. I am not good at making noises to get your little ones to smile.
These days are so fleeting and we can't get them back. Pictures take us back. Why else would we treasure the black and white pictures of our grandparents...the ones that have ragged edges and are probably in a shoebox? Pictures are special!
