Confused by the endless debate about how to do keto "properly"? Truth is it depends on what stage you're in
Stage 1) Transition. Duration: 1-2 months. This stage is all about breaking your carb addiction and transitioning off of carbs😳How? ... "dirty keto" 🤣 Forget everything you think you know about healthy eating - YOU ARE IN REHAB - every time one of those carb cravings hits, eat as much dirty, greasy - CARB FREE - keto food as you want. You need to be SUPER strict on zero sugar or starch - one pinch of the white stuff will send you into relapse. Eat bacon & eggs, steak, deli meat, cheese, nuts - whenever you want. Don't worry about calories or the nagging suspicion that this isn't healthy... the important thing is that you do not cheat - not even once - fight cravings with fatty snacks. In this stage a cheat will throw you out of ketosis for 2-3 days and reset the whole process - so don't do it!
Stage 2) Weight Loss - duration: As long as it takes! Once you're over the cravings it's time to start cleaning up your act. Cut out all snacking between meals and after dinner - reduce portions of protein - and start keeping an eye on your calories. Try replacing breakfast with bulletproof coffee, dark chocolate (90% or higher) and some nuts (almonds/pecans), do keto soup for lunch (mostly broth, add olive oil, small amounts of protein, and low carb veg. Eat dinner early, and aim for no more than 10g net carbs. Try introducing weekly fasts to really accelerate. You should be able to drop 1lbs per day.
Stage 3) Maintaining. Happy with your weight, but want to eat keto long-term for better health? Most experts agree the healthiest approach is lots of low carb vegetables. Shift your mix: 80% low carb veg, 20% protein - and loads ❤️
