God put it on my heart to share this today:
If you’ve ever been abused— whether that be physically or emotionally— it chips away at your self worth. You feel as though you are “soiled goods” but I promise, YOU ARENT. God tells us what we are— and He is truth.
What happened to you was terrible,but YOU AREN’T.
God has redeemed us. That scared and insecure person you and you abuser once knew IS NO LONGER EXISTENT when you allow Him to make you new.
After you’ve been abused it’s so easy to subconsciously shame yourself for allowing someone to treat you that way. You’ve been brainwashed to believe the lies.
Shame keeps us stuck. It forces us to think “don’t think..don’t feel..don’t grow..don’t change..don’t feel alive... live in shame.”
Shame and depression go hand in hand, and shame grows in the dark. The only way to overcome the darkness is to shine it with His light and His word.
Today ask yourself, “am I believing anything different than what God says about me? Where is this shame driving from?”
Bring it out in the light, and ask Him to make you new.
Jeremiah 31:3-4 “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.
I will build you up again, and you will be rebuilt”
Isaiah 43:18-19 “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you”
When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.”
