Another highlight from last season. We located "The Runaways" slowly making their way out of one of the inlets, heading back out to open ocean.
These are mammal-eating killer whales, or Bigg's killer whales. More specifically the family is the T109As. They are a relatively large group that visit our area quite frequently. They also spent a good chunk of the summer down in the Victoria area.
These are another gang that have had births this year, and are contributing to the ~5% annual increase in mammal-eating killer whales in the Northeast Pacific.
Here 3 of them surface together near Hippy Point.
