❤️ So proud of this Mama! "Today marks three months of breastfeeding, and it was almost hell to get to where we are. We started with painful, cracked, bloody nipples and a partial lip tie. It was so bad that on day 3, when I unlatched him from the nipple shield, the shield was FULL of blood and I nearly passed out right there. Nursing was so painful that we had to do pump-and-feed for over 6 weeks, with latching him even once a day feeling like a huge, though painful, victory.
Then came the vasospasms and yeast. We never had full blown thrush, thankfully, but it was still pretty crummy.
Now we're struggling with frequent plugged ducts. If I don't pump every morning after his first daylight/last night time nurse, that same duct will be clogged by dinnertime. I named it Sharon, and we are not friends.
But with all that, here we are, latching directly on demand for as long as he wants. Our struggle certainly can't compare to what a lot of moms have been through, but this is the hardest thing I've ever done and I'm so grateful that we've made it to where we are. We couldn't have done this without Balanced Breastfeeding, good friends, a pretty great husband, and this group (even though I rarely go to in-person group because I'm awkward af). Thanks for being awesome, mamas! (PS, I know his latch isn't great in this pic - he's asleep and will wake up if I unlatched him, so he's just been chilling on the boob for about an hour)" ~ Balanced Breastfeeding Mama
