💥 It's rotator cuff time!

They're four rotator cuff muscles and they stabilize the shoulder. Crucial to keeping healthy if you want to avoid shoulder injuries. We'll be starting off with the infraspinatus.

👊 Anatomy Time

Looking at the diagram, you can see that the infraspinatus is below what they call the "spine" of the scapula which is that bone you see going across the top of the shoulder.

HERE'S HOW TO PERFORM THE INFRASPINATUS 🙌🏻

1️⃣ Lay down on your back!
2️⃣ Place a tennis ball on the surface of the scapula!
3️⃣ Roll around and make sure you are on the infraspinatus. It can be pretty tender to most so start up with less pressure and work your way up!
4️⃣ Start with your elbow bent and inline with the shoulder.
5️⃣ Place pressure on to the ball. You can lean a little to the side to get more pressure and prevent the ball from sliding around!
6️⃣ Try and get the back of the hand to the ground.
7️⃣ Then go in the opposite direction!

Shoulder, upper digital extensors and a decompression star. Bam has been lame for a few days now on his front left. The decompression star is located in an area that Bam was showing as a sore spot. In fact he let out a massive release here during the ET I did prior to the taping. The longest blue tape addresses shoulder muscles including trapezius, triceps, brachialis, subclavius, supraspinatus and infraspinatus. Finally the smaller blue tape addresses the digital extensors. The aim of the three applications are to aid recovery through the forelimb. @rocktape.me aims to create a lifting or decompression effect on the tissue beneath the skin. This aids in the promotion of better circulation and mechanical movement as well as relieving neurological pain that can occur with injury. You can see this in the 4th and 5th pictures. ♻️La Sindrome del #TunnelCarpale è una malattia causata dalla compressione di un nervo, il nervo mediano, che attraversa il polso all’interno di un canale chiamato Tunnel Carpale.
👉La compressione può essere dovuta dalle attività lavorative che comportano movimenti ripetitivi delle dita e del polso che possono essere la causa della infiammazione dei tendini flessori all’interno del canale e quindi della sofferenza del nervo mediano.
👉Le donne vengono colpite frequentemente durante la gravidanza a causa della ritenzione di liquidi che determina un aumento di volume all’interno del canale. 👉Pazienti diabetici o dializzati o con malattie della tiroide o con artrite reumatoide possono sviluppare una Sindrome del Tunnel Carpale, spesso causata proprio da un ispessimento della membrana che ricopre i tendini flessori.

The Shoulder💫

The shoulder is a ball and socket joint which means it's got oodles and oodles of mobility and a lot going on.
.
So how's it put together? Well you've got the head of the humerus (arm bone) which chills in the glenoid fossa who is part of the scapula (shoulder blade) this bone on bone action is buffered by the labrum. The long head of the bicep 💪🏻 kind of wraps over this and feathers into the labrum as well. .
On the top end forming the 'roof' you've got the acromion (also part of the scapula) which articulates with the clavicle and the coracoid process (again, froooom the scapula). The coracoacrominal arch basically decides how far up your arm/shoulder is gon' move 🏋🏻‍♀️🏐🏌️‍♀️🏊🏻‍♀️

Traveling through that sub-acromion space you have a bursa (friction reducing body water balloon 🎈) and the supraspinatus tendon.
.
Oh, supraspinatus🤔- you've heard of that. Yes, it's part of your rotator cuff which gets all the publicity. The rotator cuff is comprised of 4 muscles whose main function is to compress➡️ and depress⬇️ the head of the humerus in the glenoid fossa so it's not jamming up into that acromion space over and over and over....

Things get tricky when muscles get injured, timing gets off, posture gets ishy, you try to clean and press 2 plates more than you should have, whatever... the possibilities are endless
.
And with those endless possibilities you could have like a million different things happening with shoulder pain.

In our modern lifestyle, the upper thoracic spine can become locked. When motion is restricted in this key transitional area, we force rotation into segments that are not designed for this task. This leads to compensatory changes up and down the kinetic chain. Stiffness in this area can be assessed with a simple postural analysis, squat test, wall slide, or active rotation where rotation is seen all the way down to approximately T4. Consejo de hoy... si vas a levantar algo del piso, sea un papel o algo pesado, siempre hacelo con las piernas flexionadas y no doblando el tronco hacia abajo porque podes desencadenar una inflamación lumbar y terminar en una crisis aguda. Y otro dato importante, el objeto a levantar siempre cerca del cuerpo para no hacer mayor palanca de fuerza. A ponerlo en práctica!!!😜
