She is a beautiful piece of broken pottery, but put back together by her own hands. and a critical world judges her cracks while missing the beauty of how she made herself whole again. //
I woke up this morning, headed out for an 8 mile run, and realized what today is. May 9th. One month before I tackle this marathon in North Carolina. One month between me and 26.2 miles along the New River. One year ago today I was counting down to a different sort of accomplishment. One year ago today I was looking toward graduation from one of the most difficult dietetic internships in the country .. on the same day I’m running this marathon- June 9th. So much has changed since then. A year ago I was planning a wedding, about to start a new chapter. I made one of the biggest decisions of my life to not move forward with something that wasn’t right. It took a lot of courage. It took a lot of withstanding judgement from others. I started from scratch in a new city, with a new life. I have worked every day to be a better version of myself. To be the best version of myself. It’s a continuous work in progress.//
Everyone has a story. Everyone is going through their own sort of battles. Every. Single. Day. Yet we still find ourselves judging, don’t we? What’s hard for one person may not be hard for you. I think sometimes we try to portray perfection, with help of social media. None of us are perfect and isn’t it ironic the more we let people in, the more we share our stories, the more we relate and feel comfortable with other people- knowing they have flaws too? So why is it that perfection is envied, when none of us can even relate to that? We all have experiences that have strengthened us to become the people we are today. Take the time to hear someone’s story. Take the time to ask // .
