Here's a shocker not all NFL athletes squat! GASP! That's right especially when it comes to sprinters because they are trying to develope that lateral subsystem which is comprised of quadratus lborum, gluteus medius, tensor fascia and adductors. To prevent valgus stressing in the legs in or leaking force from bad motor patterns. They also dont do Olympic weight lifting for the same reason. This comes from understanding the stress demands of your sport. If you dont understand each individual position of your athletes for your sport and take into account of the positions they hold then you are setting up for failure it's that simple. Even running and sprinting should be taken into consideration giving the fact that sprinting is by the far the most demanding and taxing exercise you can do to the human body from neuromuscular synchronization from a dynamic muscular activity and coordination standpoint it's the most intensive to the human body.

Post 4
All in all I’m really proud of what I have achieved and I can safely say I’m hooked and I’ll be booking my next Race very very soon!
My first Half Ironman 70.3 completed!

1

POST 3 * Transition 2 - As soon as I hopped off that bike, Cramp central! My legs had taken a beating! Every step was so painful. I managed to keep a light jog to the transition area and get my bike on the rack. I was totally exhausted and drained but I pushed on and got my (soaking wet) trainers on and my energy gels into my tri-suit pockets. I then made my way to the run exit. * T2 Time 2:06 * Run Section - Okay this started off better than I was expecting. Given the cramps I was getting coming off the bike I was dreading the run. After about 1km my legs started to ease off slightly. * I maintained a 5min per K pace or slightly less for the majority of the first 10km. It was as I was coming close to the halfway point the muscle fatigue really started to set in. Gradually my legs started to feel like they were in constant cramp and started to feel really really heavy. The pace started slowing to 6mins per k and so on. Every so often someone would pass me which would give me something to attempt to stick to and speed me up but I think my muscles had other ideas. After such little training and time before this event it’s not surprising my body wanted to give up. * I kept on telling myself “you will not walk” and I managed not to! Which I’m really proud of because there was a few times I deffo felt like I could have. * Another quick pee stop was required 🤣🤦🏼‍♂️
* The last 5k felt like an eternity. But eventually I was entering the grounds of the castle once again and I could hear the commentator. It gave me a very small boost and sped me up slightly as I could see that my time for the run could be under the 2 hour mark. * I crossed the line and I’ve never felt so defeated and so happy at the same time! I did exactly what I set out to do and that was to finish! It didn’t all happen how I imagined in my head but we got there!
* I started eating all the goodies that had been left out for us at the finish line and made my way towards the white tents where I got a 30 minute massage! Worth every penny when she was done as I couldn’t really walk over to the tents very well after the race and I could walk away better than when I went in 😂🤦🏼‍♂️

Huge congrats to the blue marlin GOAT himself – Pelagic Pro Team Captain, Marlin Parker – and the crew of MARLIN MAGIC II for landing this massive 1035.5lb GRANDER Blue Marlin out of Kona, HI and taking the victory in the Big Island Tournament! 🤙⠀

POST 2 * 7:00am Swim Race Start - This was my first Triathlon and therefore my first open water race start (Also only my second ever open water swim 😂🤦🏼‍♂️). It was a dead start so that meant the start was roughly 50m out from the shore. This is where is gets interesting. The start was total chaos and absolutely like everybody had described to me!! I quite literally had someone seal slide over the top of me about 5 seconds in to the start... knocked my goggles off and had me battling to get them back on and pull the swim cap back down properly. * Then it was time to get on with the swim. Sighting was something I didn’t really have much practice with but I actually navigated the course rather well (I think) getting to each of the buoys quite efficiently. The only downside was I didn’t pick up on anybody to draft behind but there isn’t really much you can do about that in a race situation. The conditions weren’t as bad as forecast so the rest of the swim I quite enjoyed. * Lesson from this is to be more prepared for a crazy start - lots and lots more swim practice to get a lot faster - try to relax more in the swim - breathe bilaterally to see people on both sides ( I felt like I had no air at points though, so that may have been tough in my first race)
* Swim 1.9km - Time 38:25 * Transition 1 - I had a good transition and everything went to plan as far as what I had practiced and visualised. It took slightly longer than I had hoped but everything was totally soaked and it was freezing so I’ll put it down to that. * T1 Time 3:30 * Cycle Section - Well this was a mixed bag. It started really well and I felt strong hopping on my bike. The hill climb went well and my time wasn’t that bad through it (10:47). It was on the descent everything went wrong... I was passing another competitor and moved over to the right to overtake, going through a small puddle whilst doing so, low and behold the puddle had a small pothole in it and I got a puncture on my rear tyre......🤬😡 so I pulled over next to the Marshall we were just coming up to and got to work on taking the back wheel off - removing the inner tube - putting a new one in - putting the tyre back on the ri

POST 1
Aberfeldy British Middle Distance Championships then... (Half Ironman 70.3)

That was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life! (Details of how each stage went below)

This post is going to be in a few parts to cover all the aspects of race day... After starting training only two months ago and with a 2 week gap due to injury and illness I’m over the moon with how the race went. There was a big hiccup and a couple small ones but I achieved what I wanted to a achieve, A FINISH!
The times don’t really bother me as I knew going into it that I was seriously under-trained and it was going to be a struggle, but I gave it my absolute best and it is to date the biggest mental and physical challenge I have ever done! * 4:30am Race Morning - Early start! I had a shower and did a final check over my kit. Packed up the car and ate my breakfast. I was so unsure of what to eat and drink so I had a caffeine gel, 2 Bananas and 2 Alpen Breakfast Bars. On hindsight I should have been having things that give you more energy, an omelette for example... * 5:00am Left hotel - A short 30 minute drive to the Race start * 5:30am Transitions Open - I dropped off my bike and all my kit at T1 and laid it all out how I had practiced my transitions. Walked the transition area from the swim exit to my bike and visualised my transition and exit on the bike. * Moved over to T2 where I would come off my bike and onto the Run section. The same applied I laid out my running kit as I had practiced. Walked the bike entry to my kit, visualised my transition and walked the exit route for the run. * 6:20am Kit up time - I took time to get my tri-suit and wetsuit on about 20 mins before the swim briefing. I made sure to apply loads and loads of body glide to the areas where my wetsuit and tri-suit had rubbed in training. (I had only done 1 open water swim prior to this race 🤦🏼‍♂️). * 6:40am Swim briefing - Just a short last minute briefing on the safety precautions and which way the course was to be navigated etc etc. * 7:00 RACE START - Scroll to the next post for the race madness!! 🤦🏼‍♂️👀
