You can say what you want about the raptors trade but I love what they did. Their front office realized that's there's no point of being an above average team and then falling short every year. They got rid of a coach that couldn't coach in the playoffs. "Yeah but he was coach of the year". Who tf cares?? He didn't cut it when it mattered. "They traded their best player in franchise history". Leonard is a better player than derozan and actually elevates his game in the playoffs. Yes it's a risk that Leonard is 100% healthy and will play hard, but what do the raptors have to lose!?! If they had done nothing they would still be exiting the playoffs early every year, and having late draft picks every year. They at least gave themselves a chance to win the east, especially now that the windows wide open. Also if this doesn't work out it doesn't even matter! They have a good young core and a future star in anunoby that they can start over with! Just imagine this: Kawaii is happy and is playing like the top 5 player he should be, their new coach is teaching the right playoff mentality, Lowry is contributing as the #2 and the amazing bench is doing their thing. How good can this team be?? It's a risk but they don't have anything to lose. My main point is between choosing to fall short every year and continue to get worse or having the chance to be great with the "fail" side being start over with a good young core, its obvious what you would choose. Regardless, the raptors better give derozan a statue.
