Rainy Days in The Hague🌧🌀💭 •
I stumbled across this song and immediately wanted to have a lil “just for the sake of it” boogie.
I know that this isn’t the highest quality of dancing and sometimes it isn’t that aesthetically pleasing but I’m sharing this footage because of how damn GOOD this moment felt and I’m glad that I captured it.
For some dancers, each time they dance they enjoy and savour it but I’ll admit that I struggle with allowing myself to enjoy dancing at times.
Don’t get me wrong - I love, love, lovelovelove LOVE dancing - but sometimes the pressure or expectations I place upon myself make dancing in front of others, in battles, in front of a camera nerve-wracking and can put my mindset into stress overload mode.
I’ve found my biggest challenge as a dancer is not the movement or physical aspect, it’s the psychological game that I put myself through.
Dancers have nothing to hide behind, our body is our instrument and that can be vulnerable and intimidatingly honest.
There’s a lot to work on in terms of my headspace as a dancer (ego, comparison, inhibitions etc) but I think I’m not the only one so I’m sharing this in the hopes that someone, somewhere can relate and if not, this post was therapeutic for me😌
