MOONLIT FEAST —
There are many aspects that we love about this photo.
The fish bone we actually found on this tree trunk gives the whole picture some context; the youngster either just finished his meal, or is trying to find cues for where the next fish might be - or if you will, his alert expression might represent a worry of waters not being the same anymore (pollution by man). Either way, this small detail gives much added interest for us.
We also love how the tree roots give dimensionality, leading you towards him - which makes his expression even more powerful since he’s looking straight into the viewer’s eyes.
It is a generally moody atmosphere, with the full yellow moonlight pairing with his bright yellow eyes - lending overall cohesion to the image.
In spite of the overall dark presentation, we left a lot of interest in all the shadows - including the green lake weed in the back. When printed big, you will still be able to see every little detail in the clouds, grass, rocks, and water.
