New flavor!!! Some ‘real talk’ below, but FIRST, let me introduce you to my Chai Layer Cake with Golden Milk Cream Cheese Frosting, using the @thechaibox’s incredible blend! These local Atlanta female powerhouses who import their spices from small farmers in Kerala, India, make THE best chai I have ever had (in liquid concentrate or spice blend form). I’m so excited for you to try it! Available to order now and available at future popups!
Ok now real talk: As someone who enjoys exploring new things and attempting to pioneer new territory as a baker, I sometimes end up inspiring or influencing others within the local food community. This can be hard to readily accept because everything I create stems from experiences and memories that are so very personal to my own life.
It’s of course normal and even important to be inspired, hell I’m inspired and influenced by many wonderful bakers across the globe, but would never step on the toes of those in my own community. I do however feel like I need to accept it as it comes up and move on regardless of how it makes me feel because it’s far more important to continue working to bring new exciting things to the table.
Hopefully you all sense that what I do doesn’t consist of empty shells made to fill a niche in the market or making things from an inconsiderate or superficial response to someone doing something cool, but because I have a genuine passion and love for food and culture, and that I put my heart into everything I do. I will just keep having fun and not let myself become discouraged when my voice feels diluted. Sometimes it’s ok to be the first but not the last. Atlanta has a relatively small baking community, so it’s important to be sensitive and empathetic to the people who are working hard to find their path. I’m proud of what I do and grateful to keep experiencing your excitement over the things I do, it keeps me going, so thank you!
