What actions would you be willing to take in order to reduce your carbon footprint?
– What actions would I be willing to take? I don’t really know! That’s a hard one. I think that’s the hardest thing about climate change and the discussion about it. So no-one seems to know and I think all of us are just dying for someone to tell us.
You should do this and do that and it will all be Okay… And that’s kinda not the point. Because no body knows, because it is unknown. That’s what’s so scary about it. I guess you can do things on a smaller scale. Like, choosing to ride a bike instead of driving a car.
The small scale, I guess makes the big difference if everyone does it. Then I guess things like, if you were in an organisation, you actually can. See I’m a receptionist at the moment. But, even as a receptionist, you can get where you work to recycle, for example. There’s making change where you can make change.
– Trying to reduce my consumption of single use plastic items. Like plastic water bottles and food packaging.
– So I feel like recently I’ve done quite a lot to reduce my carbon footprint. I’ve changed my diet to being a vegetarian. So obviously, ideally veganism is the end goal. But I think, just cutting down on meat consumption is a big thing that we can do.
I also got rid of my car. So I’m in a position now where I can either walk or take public transport to work. So that’s obviously helping to cut down, rather than like me just driving to work by myself.
I think they’re the main things, reducing plastic consumption, I always try and buy things in aluminium cans. And glass rather than unnecessary plastic…”
