Good workout today at Drayson Center. Getting back into squats again. To be honest,I haven’t squated in a year and three months.This work out I was trying to get 20 reps x 3 sets. This video is either 18 - 20 reps the first set. The second set I got 15 reps, and the last set I got 12 reps. I have a long ways to go to get 20 x 3 again.. probbaley more Mental than anything. 🏃Do You Skip Leg Day?🏃 🗣️ Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time to talk about Leg Day. Some of you are skipping Leg Day and it shows. While “mirror muscles” like your core, back and arms are typically more noticeable, you’re making a huge mistake if you’re only training above the belt. 🏋️ Your lower body is home to some of the biggest muscles in your body. Challenge your Legs and you’ll be rewarded with strong glutes, athletic quads, healthy hammies and toned calves. 😜 So I'm going to give you 3 reasons why you need to stop skipping Leg Day. 🛑 Stop Skipping Leg Day 🛑

1️⃣ You'll increase range of motion 🤔 Think flexibility has nothing to do with weight training? Think again. Learning the correct movement patterns for exercises like the squat, deadlift and lunge will improve your range of motion. Once you’ve got the movements and proper mobility down, you’ll be able to safely tackle more weight and ultimately increase your gains.

2️⃣ You'll Improve balance 🏂 Balance is essential for maintaining control of your body.
Exercises like side lunges and deadlifts will increase your stability, develop your proprioception and help keep you ready for anything. Giant biceps are no match for a patch of sidewalk ice, but having a strong lower body just might help you avoid a wipeout.

3️⃣ You'll burn more calories 🔥Whether or not weight loss is the goal, if you want to get the most bang for your buck at the gym, it all starts with the legs. “Working bigger muscles in multi-joint exercises like squats, deadlifts or lunges will require more ‘work’ from the heart and brain and higher levels of metabolism compared to exercising smaller muscle groups. Challenging these larger muscles requires more energy, which means your body will be burning more calories. 🤷‍♂️ How often you should train legs depends on your personal goals. I personally train mine 3x a week for max growth.

Took this last week before I was back in NJ eating bagels and pizza but I did hit an F45 class this morning 💃🏼. Those types of classes are not ideal long term for me personally- I’m the type of person who likes to do something correctly and stop when I’m tired and feel my form start to slip. For that reason I don’t love mixing weight training with circuits / cardio (it was the wingman workout, if anyone is familiar) but it was a good one off and definitely convenient for traveling to places where I don’t have a gym membership! In the end I’m happy that I went with one of my bffs and got my ass kicked, cuz sometimes I need to be humbled, cha feel? I’ll probably do one more workout tomorrow before I fly back to LA on Tuesday, trying to keep the endorphins flowing while the rest of my life is a lil crazy. Hope you guys had an amazing weekend!
