Yes! I see people asking for medical and nutrition advice over social media and unqualified people are more than happy to give it.
Make sure you are going to someone who is actually an expert (check credentials, board certification, etc.) in what you’re seeking, not just someone who found what worked for them and wants to preach it to the world. Professionals likely won’t be able to give personalized advice over the internet anyway, because we operate under a code of ETHICS.

Hey, the claims are seductive and when you’re desperate you’re willing to try anything. Been there, done that! Of course there’s a ton of great information on here it’s just challenging to sift through what’s harmful and what’s helpful.
Try to be cautious of:
🚫Restrictive diets - they could provide temporary relief but will likely create even more chaos and distress on the body
🚫People who stand to make a profit off of what they’re saying - obviously not EVERYONE, we all have to make a living right?
🚫People who are not actually qualified to make medical claims
🚫Taking a shit ton of supplements
🚫Claims that sound too good to be true
🚫All organic, non GMO, gluten free, non processed, blah blah blah - this can rapidly develop into orthorexia
**You never have anyone’s full story on here. I spot it literally hundreds of miles away, accounts can seem happy, healthy, energized, though in real life they are sitting in a corner by themselves, head stuck in their phones, no social life, no balance, and lonely AF.
**Some of the biggest (and not so big) fitness accounts share some of the most disordered eating tips. Even if they say they’re recovered from an ED. I’m sure they mean well and probably don’t realize it’s disordered.
