When @texasmamadesigns posted her mug/shirt I laughed a little too much. And then I did what any good Instagram using grown up would do and made my own version. I’ve already shared my trick for making Christmas wrapping a breeze...gift bags and cute gift tags. What I haven’t shared is the Christmas time nightmare that led me to this conclusion. One Christmas I was nauseous, pregnant, and incredibly sleep deprived from staying in a hotel with a toddler. We were having a lovely time with my in laws. Seeing as we live out of state, I Amazoned all of our presents to their house. As I got prepared to wrap our presents, my mother in law informed me she had the flu. After a quick chat with the on call OB about Tamiflu, I realized this meant I had to deal with her presents too. Of the many lovely qualities my in laws have, planing ahead is not among them. I sent my daughter and husband off to buy the last of the presents the in laws had not gotten, and I set work wrapping. Between the four in my family, my kiddos grandparents, uncles, cousin, great aunts, and great grandma, I ended up wrapping around fifty presents that day. All with wrapping paper, ribbons, and bows. Because it’s what they hand and I’m nothing if not through. No one cared about how the presents looked...just the joy on the recipients faces. Oh, I forgot to mention.... I then had to make Christmas Eve dinner for all those people because my husband and his brothers couldn’t have cooked a turkey to save their lives. So long story short: gift bags and cute gift tags. Anyone else have a harrowing tale about Christmas that haven’t gone according to plan?
