When I first got on social media a decade ago, it was fun to peek into my friends’ every day lives and see what they were up to. Then came the rise of the beauty and lifestyle influencers and it was even more fascinating to not just peek but get a front row seat to their absolutely perfect lives. The perfectly decorated homes, well dressed children, beautiful meals, hot bodies, happy relationships, I mean, they had it all.
Being in my mid 20s at the time and easily influenced, I quickly fell into the trap of comparing my bland life to their jet setting adventures. Little did I know how easy it is to stage a perfect square and never post the behind the scenes real life stuff.
It wasn’t until the rise of amazing influencers like @thebirdspapaya @meg.boggs @michelelovetri and @thehustlingmama to name a few who broke the rules and dared us all to embrace and love our real life and real body. I’m so grateful to live in a world with strong ass women like these who put themselves out there publicly to show us it’s okay to embrace both the light and dark parts of ourselves. 🖤
I’m also so grateful @apeaceofcreativity put out such a beautiful icon that serves as the perfect accent to this board.
