"However, size, shape, leanness, and muscularity are still overvalued in sports. As a result, in trying to honor and optimize performance, athletes are susceptible to applying stringent criteria to their food intake that can actually lead to malnourishment, medical problems, and even mental illness. Sadly and paradoxically, the means by which these athletes attempt to improve their performance may actually impair it."
I've said it a million times before and I will keep saying it a million times more: Athletes. You are more than your body. You are more than your food intake. Nutrition is important, yes, but let's put nutrition in its rightful place. Let's use it to our advantage and not to our detriment. Let's not assign moral value to it, when it is simply one part of our overall recovery plan. You don’t need to rigidity control your food and body. You body is smarter than you think.
