To the man who yelled “MAKE IT STOP!!” at me and my two year old daughter while she cried on our flight:
I promise that I was doing everything I could to try and calm my child down. I promise I was 100x more annoyed than you were at the dramatic 30 minute outburst happening right in my lap. I promise I did not wish anymore than you did for the kicking and screaming to continue. I can also promise you that your glaring, judging eyes behind me did not go ignored.
I can almost guarantee that you do not have children, because if you did you would understand what was happening. Maybe you would have thought about the fact my daughter did not get a nap that day. Or the fact that we missed our first flight and waited on standby in the hopes of getting on that flight. Maybe you would have taken into account the time difference and the fact it was past my daughter’s bedtime. And maybe you would have thought about how uncomfortable the air pressure can be on small children’s ears when descending.
And lastly, sir, I can 100% promise you and guarantee to you that the only thing your rude comment accomplished was make an overly exhausted, embarrassed, and stressed out mother fight back tears and make yourself look like an ass.
#momlife #armylife #frequentflyer #lifewithatoddler #bekind * I should also say thank you to the man in front of me who offered her some gum to help with the pressure (even though she’s too little for gum), and to the woman who offered her some fruit snacks, as well as the man who approached me off the plane to tell me how well I was doing with her and to ignore those rude remarks. THANK YOU
