Picked up a new little piece for the Lab today. Should work nicely for all my people's with certain injuries and issues with stabilizing.
Starting to play with this now... Pretty nice piece of equipment. Very versatile... Lots of movement can be trained in one little morsel of space. Not to mention it's plate loaded, fewer moving parts less breakage.

I'm not give on machines, but at times when your injured or unstable on certain movements they can really help you get back on track to recovery and keep you working hard.

HIIT workouts are extremely cost efficient because you need zero equipment! All you need is a little open space. HIIT workouts often utilize your own body weight, so any workout that gets your heart rate up quickly such as plyometrics, high knees and jumping jacks can be implemented into a HIIT workout.

High fiber foods for fat loss and gut health 🥑

Fiber is something the body needs but never actually digests and absorbs which ultimately means that you don’t absorb all calories from fiber. In fact, it remains more or less the same from plate to toilet. Depending on the type of fiber (soluble & insoluble), it helps you to lower cholesterol, lower blood glucose and slow down digestion. And because of the slower digestion, foods high in fiber will make you feel much fuller hence a great tool for fat loss.🔥

Eating too less of fiber can lead to constipation, which can make your time in the bathroom really painful. Also, people with a lesser fiber intake tend to eat more since fibers contribute to satiety.🙈

On the other hand, eating too much of them can make you feel bloated. Another downside of eating too much is that potentially not all minerals get absorbed from food.🤷🏻‍♂️
.
With that said, a good guideline is to eat 10 grams of fiber per 1000 calories. So if you eat 2000 calories a day, you should striving for 20 grams of fibers per day.😋

💫 Pumped my junk babies.... I’m gonna have superhero thighs!!! 😜 💫

Did two sessions today and my legs were super pumped after my evening session. I often split sessions between lunch and a morning or evening session weekdays when doing squats and DLs. It means I don’t rush them and I think that leads to better quality sessions. I am not a fan of long sessions either but with easy access to a gym frequency doesn’t bother me.

When Your Child Breaks A Leg And Caliloko Eases The Recovery —
By Katrien Malta “Break a leg, honey!” My 9-year-old daughter has heard this countless times over the past years. And it applies really nicely to her Flamenco shows because that’s what you say when someone is about to perform on stage. Unfortunately, we recently experienced the saying quite literally when she broke her tibia and ankle on the last day of school. She slipped in muddy grass during the final recess of the year, creating a spectacular exit towards the hospital.

I can tell you right now that I won’t be using the expression “break a leg” any time soon. After multiple emergency visits, surgery, two different cast sizes, and numerous doctor appointments, her leg was finally freed two weeks before the start of the new school year. My daughter spent her entire summer sitting and lying at home, not an easy task when you’re looking forward to pool and beach time. But all things considered, she was a real trooper and accepted her fate, even if tears rolled generously at times.

With the start of the new school year on the horizon, it was vital that she learn to walk properly again. She hadn’t put any weight on her leg for over eight weeks and the task proved a lot harder than we initially anticipated. Her foot was completely rigid and the pain of the fracture still very fresh in her head. So while her ankle continued aching with the pressure of her considerable height (she’s already 5.1 feet tall) and corresponding weight, I knew we needed the Caliloko calf sleeves to ensure optimal blood flow and faster recovery. She chose the red pair and with a little practice was able to put them on herself. And even though they are usually worn from the ankles upwards, she put a unique spin on the garment by covering part of her foot as well in order get the most out of this revolutionary relief-inducing fabric. I must say, she puckered up immediately, clearly responding positively to the much-needed comfort around her leg and ankle.
But most importantly, my daughter was able to walk with confidence again feeling the soothing compression in all the right places. Thanks Caliloko for making a difference!

Today’s workout! It felt great to be back at the gym after a week off! I’m on a mission to build my legs and glutes at the moment so will be upping the weight for my bridges! Today I completed 10 full reps, 10 pulse reps x 2 with 50kg, 2 minute rest and then repeated! Focus 80% of your exercises on compound lifts that give you major bang for your buck.

Using easy to learn, lowwr risk exercises is key for those of us who want a life outside of the gym.

You can pick one from each group for full body workouts or split them into upper/lower or push/pull.

For variety you can explore all the different variations. Ex. dumbbell presses from different angles, standing, etc. Deadlifts with a trap bar, straight bar, kettlebell, dumbbells, etc.

Learn to master these basic moves and you will avoid injuries and increase your success. Use the other 20% of your time on isolation exercises like curls, lateral raises, planks, etc.

Being a mom I'm pretty sure means you no longer have tshirts of things you like but random activities and teams your kids are on!! I open my tshirt drawer and 85% is kids sports and activities the other is volunteer and super heroes (I'm a total nerd). But I must say it makes me happy. Im just glad I'm able to do these things for my kids and buy the shirts.

What if...⁣

I had let my hesitations get the best of me⁣
I had decided that I could do this on my own⁣
I had let my fear of judgement stop me⁣
I had given in to my limiting beliefs⁣

You guys... we get ONE life!⁣

And if I hadn't made the decision to do something different.. man. This life would not be the same.⁣

I have grown SO MUCH in the past two years.. because I freaking got over my excuses and made a decision to just go for it!⁣

Sometimes these decisions aren't easy⁣

I don't have time⁣
I don't have the finances⁣
I won't stick to it⁣
I'll end up quitting⁣
It won't work for me⁣
Someone like me couldn't do that⁣

Guess what.. I thought all of those things for a couple of months before I said yes to this opportunity. ⁣

And guess what else.. when I made the decision to do it all of those excuses went away.⁣


Because it's not about the situation you are currently in.. but the situation that you WANT to be in.⁣

Life does not just HAPPEN to you. You MAKE IT HAPPEN.⁣

Whatever you do on a daily basis.. you are CHOOSING to do!!⁣
Your future is a CHOICE⁣
Your health and your fitness, is a freaking CHOICE!⁣

When I made this choice, I didn't just find my calling.. I found myself again⁣

Well y'all, box jumps got the best of me today. Canceling all other plans to ice it and rest it. I was frustrated and beating myself up over not being more careful, but my husband kindly reminded me: 1) this is part of my fitness journey that can make me mentally stronger depending on how I react, 2) to remain positive despite this negative situation, and 3) box jumps are overrated and never to do them again 😂

MORE THAN JUST WEIGHT LOSS

Big shout to Mark who I have been working with for a while now.

He came to see me off the back of completing another well known fit-pro program that got him to lose weight but did nothing in regards to education.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So as soon as he’d finished on the low carb/avocado approach the weight came back on.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’d be lying if I said its been easy because it hasn’t.
Weight stalling, frustration as nothing seemed to be happening and thoughts of maybe this is how its supposed to be.

But Mark had full trust and we are now seeing progress week on week.

Phases of lower Calories, upping his expenditure and tweaks to his training set up, we have finally got it nailed.

One of the main keys was to take the focus away from the scales and look at performance. Start to get closer to the numbers and take motivation from this.

Low and behold the weight starts to drop too.

Went to gym this morning for a quick arm session, then to work at Canary Wharf, managed catch up with a couple of close work mates at lunch @carluccios and now just finished work so grabbed a protein shake and a green juice for the train home.

There really isn’t a right or wrong answer, it just depends on your goals. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you’re los by to add strength and muscle mass, then it might be better to do HIIT/cardio after your lift. Especially if your trying to increase your core/compound lifts. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If your looking to increase your cardiovascular capacity/anaerobic threshold, then you might want to try to incorporate HIIT/cardio in the beginning of your workout. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Again, when it comes to fitness there is never really any ones size fits all. Your goals and desired outcomes should be your training guide.
