San Diego Safari Park🦒
I know everyone’s going crazy over the San Diego Zoo, but we decided to take it to the wild side and got tickets for the Safari instead.
As many know (even based on my tattoos) I am a HUGE fan on the big cat family. So we bought a Lion & Friends Safari and a Cheetah Safari. They also have Tiger and Australia ones, but you won’t be able to fit it all in one day. Safari packages don’t include general admission (all together for 2 we paid around 470$).
Honestly I’ve been on better ones, but those would be all the way in South Africa, so it wasn’t bad at all for the USA.
Best moments - Hearing a lion’s roar a few feet away from you. That creature is magical. As a part of A Cheetah Safari you get to see those animals along with Serval really close, and how astonished I was to see PEOPLE getting all uncomfortable around them. as for me I was dying to get closer into the cage or even better take one of home. I have never been afraid of animals - don’t scare them and they won’t touch you. For me humans were a real threat.
Apart from my meow family, the other ones who were damn impressive were gorillas. Even though I don’t believe in the Darvin Theory that we are related, they still do seem to look right through you and you can see their brain working so similar to ours. ⠀-
PS Name the animal I’m feeding
I always start the mindful class @miami_bridge by going around to each child, introducing myself as I look em’ in the eye with a soft gaze, and ask what their name is as well. This little guy gave no eye contact when I approached him and his name wasn’t audible. What I noticed as the class progressed, was the dim light inside began to shine brighter as he noticed he was able to do a lot of postures with ease and grace. This was the last posture, in full lotus, lifting himself up off the floor a few inches. He wasn’t only physically lifting himself, he was emotionally as well. You can’t see it here, but there was a big smile on his face, and mine as well. Not b/c he “got” the pose-more so because he got to experience his strength within. Something that hopefully he can carry with him... #justbe#mindful#yoga#union#mindbody#strength
Summer reading! - Being Genuine, was recommended by a friend. I've been "studying" non-violent communication for a while and this seems a perfect follow on from Rosenberg. - The Lion's Roar, I've read and enjoyed many books by Tungpa I find he really transmits a lot. Loved his Crazy Wisdom too. - Intelligent Yoga, saw this by chance and ordered it from Peter. Very well presented. In Italy I'm lucky to have Diane Long as a neighbor and often watch her lessons. I find the Scaravelli approach very interesting. - The Yamas and Niyamas I saw was highly recommended in a FB group, looks great.
Anyone else enjoyed these books?
What have you got planned to read this summer?
“I will persist until I succeed. I was not delivered into this world into defeat, nor does failure course in my veins.
I am not a sheep waiting to be prodded by my shepherd. I am lion and I refuse to talk, to walk, to sleep with the sheep. The slaughterhouse of failure is not my destiny.
I will persist until I succeed.” -Og Mandino
This photo captures a few of the Thai kids trapped in a cave for 2 weeks. Their coach who was a monk for a time, taught them how to meditate to stabilize their mind and help them endure this dire situation. All I can say is “whoaaaa”. #justbe#meditation#helps
“It is not the outer objects that entangle us. It is the inner clinging that entangles us." - Tilopa
When I struggle and I do. I try and reflect on the roots of the issues rather than clinging to the branches. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Ponder this:
Are you living with more love OR less love? More anger OR less anger?
We NEED both but in differing amounts. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
At times Courage means to roar like a lion, at others it is a meek voice which says try again tomorrow. Courage is not the absence of fear, it is mastering fear using different sizes of courage.

Nothing is impossible, the word itself says I’M POSSIBLE!
I get asked sometimes if my kids meditate. The long answer is.... they don’t. 🤩 My girls are teens now and seems like a bad idea to make them meditate. They see me meditate, and there’s meditation cushions out in our living space. So if they feel called to “sit”, they can. In my opinion the best time for parents to offer meditation and mindfulness practices is when they are young. When they want to do what you are doing. When their self consciousness hasn’t fully kicked in yet. When they are wide open to absorb w/o judgment. A line from a kids song we used to love is: “our kids come through us, but they are not us”. However, would I love it if they decided to dive into meditation @ some pt.? Of course. And if your tween/teen shows interest-jump on it. But for mine, what I trust is knowing they were exposed to mindfulness/awareness practices @ a young age, which now lives inside of them so they can turn to it when it feels right - on their own terms. #mindfulnikki
Decent podium finish from the boys today. Tons of scores dotted down in a tournament with a number of quality teams involved, comprimising of the occasional pro. Looking forward to the next one. Thanks to our sponsors Ahsan Scooters Streatham for the support. Without them we wouldnt have been able to even play in this tournament. #LionsRoar
The world is waiting for you to wake up to the person you are called to be. Stop listening to the negative inner conversation that's causing you to play small. Focus your mind on positive thoughts, possibilities and solutions that can move you forward. Tap into your creativity and determination and stay busy. Stay focused. Les Brown
