SALT LAKE CITY FRIENDS!
There will be a roadside cleanup of the Roady McRoadface section of I-80 Sunday morning.
This cleanup will take place around the 1300 East interchange. The staging area will be at the end of the cul-de-sac on Driggs Ave near the EB-SB off ramp. There you will find vests, water, and trash bags.
I am planning to do more of a linear cleanup this round. Starting on the EB On-Ramp working our way East along the South Side up towards 2300 East.
UDOT provides vests, which must be worn, and large orange trash bags. I will bring smaller trash bags that will be easier to fill and place in the large orange trash bags. Please wear appropriate clothing: long pants, long sleeves, GLOVES, and closed toe shoes. It is a dirty job and there are plants that are tall and scratchy. During the last clean up, someone suggested rakes and shovels to help get at and pick up things stuck in bushes. This is along I-80, so earplugs might help.
Children 11 years old and older are allowed to participate, according to UDOT.
Feel free to come at any time during the 3 hours I will be out there, I don’t expect anyone to stay the whole time or to be there right at 8am. I will leave bags and vests in the cul-de-sac for any latecomers.
This is an open event, so forward this appointment on to anyone you like. The more people there are, the more trash that we can get out of the clearzone and off the cut and fill slopes.
Thank you to anyone who can spend a little time on their Sunday morning helping to clean up our roadways.
