This may sound rather odd, but I just wanted to take a moment to thank all of you who were brave enough to dig deep to ask me about my adoption.
It is not often enough spoken about, and although I do believe that every adoption story is so different to the next, I also believe in educating others around the topic. I also think that it is important for people to learn to speak about things that are out of their comfort zone.
My adoption didn't, doesn't and never will define me. However, it has played a huge role in the person I am today.
A couple points, I am incredibly blessed to have never left my biological brothers side throughout our entire journey through being fostered and adopted. We were never put into an orphanage, we always had a foster family. I was young enough to not remember any definite details of the situations that put us into foster care. We were placed with the most amazing, loving and selfless family for our long term foster who were eventually able to adopt us after about 7 years. We couldn't have been with a better forever family.
All of the in between moments have become a blur. The social worker visits with our biological parents, the therapy, the sleep overs that the court ordered us to have at our biological fathers house! Our adopted parents became our family from very early on. We knew we were home. And God knew that this was the plan for our lives. From the beginning.
So, THANK YOU for taking the time to ask questions, to educate yourself, and to understand who I am and how I got here. .
