I think a lot of people decide to cleanse in Spring because it feels natural to want to refresh on every level.
I also think a lot of people think cleansing is the same as losing weight but it’s totally NOT!!!! Cleansing is simply refreshing and nourishing your internal organs so that you feel amazing and probably have more energy and nicer skin.

It’s Smoothie season!

Spring is a time of transition from the warm and hearty meals of winter to the fresh and vibrant meals of summer
This cacao smoothie recipe will leave you longing for more.
.
The Elements:
.
200ml milk of your choice
100ml coconut cream/mylk
2-4 heaped tsp of our DUST cacao infusion of your choice
1 tsp of maple syrup / honey OR 3 pitted dates for sweetness (optional)
Handful of ice cubes

The Alchemy:
.
Place all ingredients into a blender (including ice cubes)
Blend until smooth and well combined (approx. 1 minute)
Pour your health cacao smoothie into tall glass over ice. Enjoy!

Makes 1 big or 2 regular glasses. For a thicker, more filling chocolate smoothie, add 1 (frozen) banana or other fruit of your choice and blend together with rest of the ingredients. You won’t regret it.

After a few seasons of grape sized beetroot I have finally hit the jackpot with these babies! I think the secret is not planting them too close together.

I’ve spoken before about the benefits of foods that stain your skin, al those bright coloured fruits, vegetables and spices like beetroot, carrots, spinach, blueberries, strawberries and turmeric.

Beetroot in particular is high in antioxidants, minerals and nutrients. One particular benefit I’ve always found interesting is beetroots ability to increase nitric oxide levels in the body. Nitric oxide is a vasodilator, increasing blood flow and decreasing blood pressure.

This ability to support the increase of blood supply and flow has benefits for men (and women) by improving sexual function. Nitric oxide has been shown to support erectile dysfunction.

Ever wonder why some women have leaner legs than others?⁣

Imagine the house or building you are in now represents the liver. The room you are in is a cell in the liver. ⁣
When any chemicals come into the body ( chemicals from-air fresheners, over the counter meds, meds, cosmetics, alcohol, dyes and preservatives in foods, chemicals in our water, plastics) imagine them like zombies busting into your room. 😳⁣

You wrestle with them and push them out the window. ⁣

One of your colleagues throws them into a truck and drives them on the road ( which represents your intestines) to the lake. Where your friend is waiting with a boat ( which represents fibre) by the dock. ⁣

They put the zombie in the boat and makes sure it leaves on the lake ( in other words. Fibre attached to harmful estrogens and chemicals and ensures they leave when you do #2! ⁣

Issues that can happen to slow or change this: ⁣

1️⃣. Too many chemicals coming in. ( 5 zombies running in every hour instead of 1; you can only get rid of 1/ hour) The other 4 must be stored in the liver, almost like a closet or room or they damage the liver. Eventually the liver is full. You need to build new rooms ( fat cells) to put more zombies in. So we start to put on body fat to house toxin. Most of our toxins exist better in fat than water. So burning fat becomes less important. You need the right nutrients to convert chemicals from fat loving to water loving. So you can pee, poo and sweat them out. 2️⃣. Gut is leaky. Imagine pot holes on the road. The truck breaks down and the zombies run back to your house. I'm other words, harmful chemicals leak. We can get cysts, fibroids etc.⁣

3️⃣. Not enough fibre in your life. Your friend doesn't have the boat at the dock. Zombies over power your friend and run back to your house. In other words we don't get rid of the harmful estrogens, so the recye back into our body and the process starts again. ⁣
⁣Make a list of all your cosmetics, medications and fresheners.
Work towards changing and eliminating some.

There is not an auto pilot button for healing and growing. You must be an active participant!💯 🤔 In my brief 36 years on this planet I have taken great lessons on what works, and does not work, when trying to heal and grow as an individual. Do you get hungry 1-2 hours after a smoothie? 🤔 Well, you're not alone!

I hear this ALL the time in clinc. You may not be making your smoothie correctly.

It’s really important to give your body what it NEEDS to reduce cravings. Protein, fat and fibre!

There are over 8 different hormones that influence your hunger every single day. And there are certain foods that can turn these off and modulate them.

It’s my goal to teach my clients and help you to not only eat well but to teach you how to tun off as many hunger hormones as possible so that you’re not fighting the urge not to eat.

For example, ghrelin, this hormone turns off when our stomach is physically stretched, want to know what can turn off ghrelin... FIBRE! Fibrous foods that physically stretch your stomach lining are going to help modulate ghrelin.

The best fiber rich foods that you can add into a smoothie are leafy greens, steamed broccoli or cauliflower, cucumber, celer, courgette. Protein can also promote satiety for ghrelin.
