An important part of our mission here at The New Village Brewery & Taproom is "to offer a welcoming place in the heart of our village for people of all ages to connect, create, celebrate and thrive together." Each Friday, we send a Story to share fun stories fresh from our Taproom to let you know how each one of y'all are helping this part of our mission come to life. Here's the 5th installment- Stay tuned for more!
About one year ago as we were signing the lease here at 702 Broad St., we had an idea to use a wall in the Taproom to illustrate the brewing process. We started asking folks for suggestions of local artists that could come up with a visual for how the different kettles & tanks are used to make our beer and possibly even to show patrons which beer is being conditioned that week and when it will be available on tap.
Our friend Melanie Fluharty suggested we reach out to Christa Kreutz, a local graphic artist. A few emails later, we had a meeting, procured some supplies and voilà! With a few strokes of her paint pen, Christa had done it! We have never properly acknowledged her for her fantastic contribution to our Taproom, ...until now :-) Christa moved here with her family (husband David and 3 sons) from St. Louis, MO in July 2015. She does freelance graphic art and works for Bosch. In her free time, she likes to paddle board and play ukulele. And having spent time in Germany, Christa has a great palate for craft beer, too!
So, next time you're in the Taproom, check out Christa’s brewing diagram and see what new beers are in process. And when you meet Christa, maybe you'll ask her about her favorite spots to paddle board in Oriental. She and her husband will be joining our Earth Day SUP outing tomorrow!
See you in the Taproom!
